Rajinikanth honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2019
Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has been honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2019. Congratulatory messages and wishes are already pouring in on social medias. Jury members comprising of Mohanlal, Asha Bhosle, Shankar Mahadevan, Subhash Ghai and Biswajeet Chatterjee selected Rajinikanth for the award, which is India’s highest film honour.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar took to his Twitter handle to make the official announcement. He has tweeted,

Rajinikanth, aged 70, is the 12th South Indian to get this award. Previously, legends like filmmaker K Balachander, Sivaji Ganesan, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Dr Rajkumar, Akkineni Nageshwar Rao have been honoured with the prestigious award. Amitabh Bachchan was the last recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke award for the year 2018.
