Suriya’s ‘Kanguva’ Faces Sharp Drop in Box Office Collections

Suriya’s epic-fantasy film Kanguva has witnessed a significant decline in box office collections after an impressive opening. Directed by Siva and produced by Studio Green and UV Creations, the film was made on a massive budget of over ₹350 crore. On its opening day, the film grossed ₹28 crore from India and ₹12 crore from overseas, including ₹4 crore from Kerala and ₹12 crore from Tamil Nadu. The global first-day total stood at ₹40 crore.

However, the second day saw a sharp fall, with collections dropping to ₹13 crore, as per early estimates. This drastic decline has raised concerns about the movie’s ability to recover its enormous production cost.

Kanguva features Suriya in dual roles: a contemporary, stylish character and a fierce warrior set 1,500 years ago. Bobby Deol plays a powerful antagonist, with Disha Patani, Natarajan Subramaniam, Yogi Babu, and others in pivotal roles. Despite its grand scale, stunning visuals, and action-packed narrative, the film has received a mixed response from audiences and critics.

With its current trajectory, Kanguva faces an uphill battle at the box office. Its performance in the coming days will be crucial for its overall success.
