2.0 aka Enthiran 2; The Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer does a pre-release business of Rs 200 crores.

2.0, the much awiated sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2010 blockbuster Enthiran, is nearing it’s completion. The movie, directed by Shankar also marks the South Indian debut of Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar. British beauty Amy Jackson is playing the female lead in this sci-fi thriller.

Lyca Productions is investing a mammoth budget of Rs 450 crores, which is the highest for any Indian film currently under production. Now that SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali has raked in over 1500 crores, the expectations on 2.0 is multifold.

True to the hype, the movie is doing some massive pre-release business. As per reports, the theatre distribution rights of 2.0’s Hindi was sold to a whopping Rs 80 crores. Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar’s presence has popularized the movie in the North.

The Shankar directorial had also already earned Rs 100 crores from the satellite rights across all languages. Satellite rights of 2.0 were sold for Rs. 110 crore to Zee Television for 15 years time. Reportedly, the makers are also in talks with Amazon Prime and Netflix for the film’s digital rights.

This is the also the highest satellite price for an Indian movie surpassing the record set by Dangal. The Aamir Khan starrer was also bought by Zee TV for Rs 75 crores. SS Rajamouli’s epic movie Baahubali: The Conclusion was bought for Rs 51 crores by Sony Entertainment.

Inspired by the success of Dangal and Baahubali 2, the makers of 2.0 are also planning to release the movie in 15 languages. The movie will be dubbed into all major foreign languages, including Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

Shoot for this magnum opus is almost over with just a song left to be filmed. It will be wrapped up once Rajinikanth is free from the shoot of his upcoming movie, Kaala. Shankar has written the movie along with popular writer Jeyamohan. Many internationally acclaimed technicians are involved in the technical side of the movie.
