Aashiq Abu-Prithviraj film Vaariyamkunnan to be made on a budget of around 80 crores!
Prithviraj Sukumaran and Aashiq Abu are teaming up for the first time ever for a period film titled ‘Vaariyamkunnan’. The film is based on the 1921 Malabar Revolution. Prithviraj is supposedly playing the titular role of Chakkiparamban Variyankunnathu Kunjahammed Haji, who was the leader of Malabar Rebellion against the British. Zikander and Moideen are jointly producing the film under the banners of Compass Movies Ltd and OPM Cinemas.
The makers are planning to start shooting in 2021 on the 100th anniversary of the rebellion. It will be the biggest film done by Aashiq Abu in his career so far. According to him, it’s like a huge war film and the budget could go up to Rs 75-80 crore. The film is scripted by ‘Unda’ fame Harshad and Rameez.
Muhsin Parari will be co-directing the film along with Aashiq Abu. On the technical side, Shyju Khalid will be handling the camera and edits will be done by Saiju Sreedharan. Art director Jyothish Shankar and costume designer Sameera Saneesh are also part of the team.
