From actors to spot boys, everyone has given their best for Odiyan: Shrikumar Menon
The phenomenal success of Pulimurugan inspired several Malayali filmmakers to plan projects on big scale. Odiyan was one such project that got announced a few months after the release of Pulimurugan. National award winner Harikrishnan scripted the movie based on the not-much-explored lives of Odiyans, whose stories and myths are popular in Kerala’s folklore. The movie marks the feature-film directorial debut of ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon.
Odiyan is a big project that demanded hardwork and efforts from a lot of people. And according to director Shrikumar Menon, everyone from the actors to spot boys have given their best for Odiyan. In a recent interview, he was all praise for his team who have helped him to turn his vision to reality. The movie was shot for 123 days in multiple schedules from August 2018 to April this year.
The long wait for Odiyan’s release is coming to an end this October. The movie, which is currently in the post-production phase, is unarguably one of the most awaited Malayalam movies in recent years. According to the makers, Odiyan is a mass entertainer with elements of fantasy and magical realism. Mohanlal, Prakash Raj and Manju Warrier play the major roles in the movie. The cast also includes Manoj Joshi, Narain, Innocent, Kailas, Sana Althaf, Siddique and Nandu.
Odiyan’s technical crew includes comprises of DOP Shaji Kumar, editor Johnkutty, action choreographer Peter Hein, art director Prashanth Madhav and composers M Jayachandran and Sam CS (background score). The movie is scheduled for a grand release on October 11. It is expected to be released in around 400 screens in Kerala alone.
