Aravind Swami in Mammootty’s Mamankam?

Mammootty starrer Mamankam is one of the most anticipated movies coming up in Malayalam cinema. The movie directed by debutant Sajeev Pillai is an epic historic-drama made on a massive scale. After completing the first schedule in February, the team has been on a break for over two months. The next leg of shoot is all set to kick-start from May 10 in Kochi. All this while the makers have kept utmost secrecy about the cast but they had informed that many popular actors from other industries will be part of the movie.

Latest buzz is that Tamil actor Arvind Swami has been approached to play a crucial role in Mamankam. There is still no confirmation about this but it will be huge if the makers can rope in a big star like Arvind Swami. It is worth a mention that Mammootty and Arvind Swami had previously worked together in Mani Ratnam’s all-time classic Thalapathi.

Arvind Swami is currently busy shooting for Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. The Roja actor’s next release is Bhaskar Oru Rascal, which interestingly is the official remake of Mammootty’s Bhaskar The Rascal.

Sajeev Pillai, who is a former associate of Adoor Gopalakrishnan, has scripted Mamankam after doing research works for nearly 12 years. The movie is based on the medieval fair, Mamankam, where brave warriors from across the country would come together to showcase their skills at combat. Mammootty plays a ‘Chaaver’ (warrior) in this movie, which revolves around the life of these warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers.

Reportedly, Bollywood actress Prachi Desai has been signed as the female lead in Mamankam. Prachi is noted for her roles in movies like Rock On, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, I, Me Aur Main and Azhar. Apart from her, two other noted actresses will be part of the movie’s cast.

Mamankam’s technical crew includes cinematographer Ganesh Rajavelu a.k.a Jim Ganesh, action choreographer Kaecha, composer M Jayachandran and VFX supervisor Kamala Kannan, who has worked in several big projects in South Indian cinema. Venu Kunnampilly of Kavya Films is funding this big budget movie.
