Carbon is my toughest film till date: Mamta Mohandas

Fahadh Faasil starrer Carbon is all set to storm screens tomorrow (January 19). It is a highly anticipated movie thanks to the big names involved in it. Scripted and directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Venu, the movie is a realistic adventure thriller. It is his third directorial venture after the widely acclaimed Daya (1998) and Munnariyippu (2013).

Fahadh Faasil and Mamta Mohandas are playing the lead roles in the movie. Carbon is their first outing together and it will be interesting to watch their chemistry onscreen. Both the actors are known for their amazing ability to get into the skin of the character, so it certainly will be a treat to watch them trying to outperform each other.

In a recent interview, Mamta remarked that Carbon is the toughest film that she has worked till date. The actress, who is known for being very selective, when asked about the reason behind signing this film said, it was her rapport with director Venu. She considers him as a father-like figure ever since they worked together in Sathyan Anthikad’s ‘Kadha Thudarunnu’ (2010).

Apparently, Mamta was impressed by the story and her character in Carbon when Venu told her about the project last year. She is also happy about working with a fine actor like Fahadh Faasil. While Fahadh plays Sibi Sebastian, a rustic youth from Kottayam, Mamta plays Sameera, a bubbly and adventurous young woman.

Carbon also has a big supporting cast which includes Soubin Shahir, Sharafudheen, Manikandan Achari, Dileesh Pothan, Ashokan, Lena, Nedumudi Venu, Vijayaraghavan, Kochu Preman and Guppy fame Master Chetan Lal among others.

Carbon has its cinematography by KU Mohanan and music by Bollywood composer-filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj. Been Paul has handled the edits. The movie is jointly funded by Sibi Thottapuram and Navis Xaviou under the banner of Poetry Film House.
