How did Dulquer Salmaan get the name DQ?
Megastar Mammootty is fondly called as Mammookka by industry insiders as well as the fans. His son Dulquer Salmaan is called as Kunjikka by his fans. But how did he get the name DQ?
Dulquer himself explained about how he got the name in a recent interview. “I am not sure how the name Kunjikka was bestowed upon me. I saw the name in many social media forums and I like it. I feel very much loved.”
About the name DQ, he said, “I was called that name for the first time when I was in third or fourth grade. My name was not very easy to pronounce for my friends. So they used it as a nickname for their ease.” He added that some of his friends also called him Dhulki.
On the work front, Dulquer’s latest release Jomonte Suvisheshangal is running successfully in all the release centres. The movie directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad was about an endearing relationship between a rich businessman and his son. Dulquer’s charming performance in the movie found appreciation from the critics and the auidence.
The actor was recently seen shooting for Soubin Shahir’s debut directorial Parava. Dulquer is playing a a cameo role in the movie. After that he is expected to join the second schedule of Bejoy Nambiar’s upcoming bilingual Solo.
Dulquer’s next release will be Amal Neerad’s CIA aka Comrade In America. He is playing the character Aji Mathew in the movie. This highly anticipated movie is expected to hit screens during the Vishu season.
