Dulquer Salmaan to Portray Tamil Cinema Icon in New Film ‘Kaantha,’ Exploring the Legendary MKT & Lakshmikanthan Murder Case
Dulquer Salmaan steps into the shoes of Tamil cinema’s first superstar, M.K. Thiyagaraja Bhagavathar, in the upcoming period film Kaantha. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the film dives into the infamous 1950s murder case involving Bhagavathar and Lakshmikanthan, a saga that rocked Tamil cinema. Kaantha, set in the golden era of Tamil cinema, promises to authentically capture the socio-cultural intensity of that time, making it one of the most eagerly awaited historical projects in recent years.
The film’s grand launch was marked by a pooja ceremony on September 8th, followed by the start of filming on September 9th. Produced by Dulquer’s own Wayfarer Films in collaboration with Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media, Kaantha brings together prominent industry figures for a highly ambitious project.
The film stars Dulquer in the lead role, with support from an impressive cast, including Rana Daggubati, Samuthirakani, and Bhagyasree Borse.
