In a groundbreaking move, Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films has announced its ambitious entry into the superhero genre with Lokah: Chapter One – Chandra, marking the inception of Malayalam cinema’s first cinematic universe. Helmed by writer-director Dominic Arun, the film stars Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen in leading roles and promises to redefine storytelling standards in the industry.
The first-look poster, which was released recently, presents Kalyani in a bold new avatar, hinting at her role as a superhero – a refreshing and rare sight in Malayalam films. The film appears to delve into an expansive narrative world, with Chandra being central to a larger universe titled Lokah, which is expected to unravel across future chapters.
With top-notch technical talent onboard, including Nimish Ravi as cinematographer, Jakes Bejoy scoring the music, and editing by Chaman Chacko, Chandra is poised to be a visually arresting and genre-defining experience that could set a new precedent in Indian cinema.
