Dulquer Salmaan’s role in Kammattipadam was initially offered to Fahadh Faasil
Kammattipadam was 2016’s one of the best movies not only in Malayalam but also in Indian cinema. The movie was about friendship, the discrimination faced by the Dalit community and showcased the reality behind how Kochi city was urbanised on the grounds of Kammattipadam
The layered narrative, top-notch detailing and the stunning performances of the lead actors were hugely raved about. Dulquer Salmaan, Vinayakan and debutant Manikandan R Achari played the major roles in the movie.
Dulquer was seen in an entirely different role from his usual ones. It was a prominent character with different looks changing according to the timeline. Dulquer delivered a commendable performance as Krishnan in Kammattipadam. But not many know that the role was i initally offered to Fahadh Faasil.
Fahadh himself revealed this bit of information in a recent interview. He was the lead actor in Rajeev Ravi’s debut directorial Annayum Rasoolum when the offer for Kammattipadam came his way. But the actor did not accept the project as he felt that he has never seen Kochi like what is shown in the movie. When he first saw Kochi, all the posh areas like Panampally Nagar, Kadavanthara and high rise flats were already there. So he felt he would not be able to do justice to do that role.
Vinayakan and Manikandan Achari overshadowed lead actor Dulquer Salmaan with their mind blowing performances as Balan and Ganga in Kammattipadam. Deservingly, Vinayakan won the Kerala State Award for best actor and Manikandan Achari won the second best actor.
Fahadh, is currently basking in the success of his latest release Take Off. He played a brief cameo as an Indian Ambassador in the movie. He will soon start shooting for Anwar Rasheed’ next. Two Tamil movies are also in his kitty for this year.
