It could have been a Dulquer Vs Amitabh Bachchan race at 63rd national awards, says Mohan
63 National film awards had been announced few days back and Amitabh Bachchan won the best actor award for his performance in the film named Piku directed by Shoojit Sarkar. Amitabh Bachchan was contested with none other than Jayasurya as Jayasurya was reached the final round for his performance in the films like Su Su Sudhi Vathmekam and Lukka Chuppi. For that he got a special jury mention at National film awards as well.
The same honor was bestowed upon him by the state award jury as well this year in Kerala even though the majority of film lovers here wanted Jayasurya to get the best actor award in state level. But the jury chose to give it to Dulquer Salmaan for his performance in the film named Charlie, directed by Martin Prakatt. But the team behind Charlie had filed to send the film for national film awards as they were ignorant of the last date of it to be submitted for selection. It had disappointed many of the fans of that movie.
Now, State award jury chairman and veteran director Mohan said that he is also very sad that Charlie missed the opportunity to contest in National film awards. He said that if that had happened, it could have been a Dulquer Salmaan vs Amitabh Bachchan contest for the best actor award at the national level.
Dulquer Salmaan’s performance was impressive and it seems that it had impressed Mohan a lot. That is why he had given the state award for it and now disappointed about the fate of the film and Dulquar Salman who did not able to take part in the national awards. But when he says if Charlie was there it could have been an Amithab Bachchan- Dulqurr Salmaan contested final round, it seems like he is telling that Jayasurya’s performance was not good enough to enter the final round or it was below the performance of Dulquer Salmaan in Charlie. That may not be a welcome statement from the Malayali people who were really waiting for Jayasurya to win the awards this time.
