62 filmfare awards for the south has been announced yesterday night at Chennai and from Malayalam mega star Mammootty and actress Manju Warrier won the best actor and best actress award award for their performance in Renjith Shankar directorial film Varsham and Roshen Andrews directorial film How Old Are You respectively. From Tamil, actor Dhanush has won the best actor award for the performance in the film Velayilla Pattadhaari and from Telugu popular actor Allu Arjun won the best actor award. Actor Nivin Pauly had won the best actor award of the critics for his performance in the Abrid Shine directorial flick 1983 as well. Malavika Nair won the best actress award for her performance in the film named Cuckoo from Tamil.

For directing Bangalore Days Anjali Menon won the best director award from Malayalam and from Tamil A R Murugados won the same for the film named Kaththi. From tamil the critic’s choice of best actor award goes to Karthi for his performance in the film named Madras. The best film award goes to Munnariyippu directed by Venu from Malayalam and Kaththi directed by A R Murugados from Tamil.

Best actor in a supporting role was awarded to Jayasurya for his performance in Apothecary directed by Madhav Ramadas from Malayalam and from Tamil the best actor in support role award goes to Bobby Simha for his performance in the film Jigarthanda. The best actress in supporting role award went to Pravathy for her performance in Bangalore Days. Hari Charan won the best male play back singer from Malayalam for the song “Ethu kari ravilum “ from banagalore days and Shreya Ghoshal won the best female playback singer from Malayalam for her song “Vijanathayil..” from the film How Old Are You”.

Gopi Sunder is the best music director from Mollywood for his composition in the film Bangalore Days and B K Hari Narayanan won the best lyricist award from Malayalam for his lyrics for “Olenjali kuruvi..” song from 1983. Dulquer Salmaan won the best debuting male award from Tamil for his performance in the film Vaayai Moodi Pesavum and Nikki gilrani is the best debuting female from malayalam for the film 1983.

Veteran director I V Sasi and Actress Radhika were presented with Life time achievement award at the function.
