Some teams in film industry always gives us great films to remember forever. Whether it is a success in box office or not, the impact which it leaves in our mind is exceptional. There are many actor-director pair in India who gives us films like those. Mollywood has been blessed with many such teams over these years including Priyadarshan-Mohanlal, Hariharan-Mammootty, Sathyan Anthikkad- Mohanlal, Sibi Malayil-Mohanlal, Sibi Malayil-Mammootty, I V Sasi- Mammootty, Shaji Kailas- Mohanlal, Ranjith-Mohanlal and one among that list is Kamal-Mammootty team. Kamal had formed great team with Mohanlal and Jayaram as well with whom Kamal had done 7 and 12 films respectively. He has also made five films starring Dileep in the lead.
Now it came as a point to remember as another Kamal-Mammootty film is all set to hit the theaters as an Onam movie to be released on August 27th. The flick has been titled as Utopiayile Rajavu scripted by P S Rafeeq. Mammootty is reportedly playing a Sculptor in this upcoming satire like film. This makes us remember the earlier association these two masters had.
The first time they had associated for a film was in the year 1995 when they gave us the film named Mazhayethum Munpe which had become one of the big box office successes of the year. It had Mammootty and shobhana in lead roles along with Sreenivasan and Annie. It was scripted by Sreenivasan. In the next year itself they had come together once again for the film named Azhakiya Ravanan again scripted by Sreenivasan. It had Bhanu Priya, Sreenivasan and Biju Menon along with Mammootty. But it was a commercial failure shockingly and later through television screenings it had achieved a classic status.
Then this team had teamed up after 9 years in Rappakal which released in 2005. It had Nayanthara and Sharada in the lead roles along with Mammootty and it was a moderate success in box office as well. The screenplay of the film was written by T A Razak. Then they came together again in 2006 for a film named Karutha Pakshikal scripted by Kamal himself. Even though it was a box office failure it got wide appreciation from the audiences for Kamal’s making and Mammootty’s performance.
Now their 5th association is coming to you in the name of Utopiayile Rajavu and having high hopes riding on it as it is coming from this great pair.
