Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh and Kalyani Priyadarshan to play the female leads in Marakkar – Arabikadalinte Simham
Marakkar – Arabikadalinte Simham has been in the news ever since it was announced earlier this year. The Priyadarshan directorial has Mohanlal in the lead role. This epic film is planned to be made on a budget of Rs 100 crores. Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are coming together to produce what is one of the most expensive projects in Malayalam cinema till date.
Since the budget involved is huge, the makers are planning it as a multi-lingual with actors from all major Indian film industries. Mohanlal is playing the titular role while other stars like Pranav Mohanlal, Prabhu, Arjun and Suneil Shetty are also confirmed in the cast. The movie reportedly has four heroines and the makers have already roped in Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh and Kalyani Priyadarshan.
While Kalyani’s is a cameo appearance, it comes at a crucial juncture as a surprise element. Keerthy Suresh has been cast in a prominent role. She will be seen romancing a Chinese actor in the movie. Talks with another leading heroine is already on, and an official word is expected to be made shortly.
Marakkar.. is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army. There were four key Kunjali Marakkars during that era. This upcoming movie’s story is reportedly based on the fourth Marakkar.
While Mohanlal plays the fourth Marakkar, his son Pranav will be playing the younger part of his character. Nedumudi Venu, Renji Panicker, Siddique and Madhu have also been confirmed in the cast.
The entire cast and crew is expected to be officially announced very soon.
