Manju Warrier to sport three different looks in Odiyan!

Odiyan is unarguably one of the most awaited South Indian films coming up this year. It is a fantasy thriller that will have a mix of action, romance and magical realism. Scripted by National award winner Harikrishnan, Odiyan is primarily about Odividya, a kind of black magic. The people who practice it are called odiyans and the movie explores their lives in different time periods. Ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon is making his directorial debut with this big budget movie funded by Aashirvad Cinemas.

In the movie, Mohanlal plays the role of Odiyan Manikyan, who is said to be the last living odiyan in the world. The story is set in three different timelines starting from the pre-electricty days in the 1950s to 2000. Mohanlal’s Manikyan is a renowned odiyan who lived in the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border in Palakkad. The movie follows his life from his childhood to his 60s.

Along with Mohanlal, Prakash Raj and Manju Warrier playing the other lead roles in the movie. Apparently, not just Mohanlal, but Manju will also be seen sporting three different looks in the movie. She will be shown in her late 20s, mid 30s and in her 50s. It is a prominent character that comes throughout the film as Mohanlal’s and Prakash Raj’s roles are centred around her.

Manju has already finished shooting for the first schedule and will soon be joining the final leg of shoot, which is slated to kick-start on February 5. Similar to Mohanlal, the younger portions of Manju will be shot in this upcoming schedule. It is a performance oriented role and the actress is all thrilled about acting alongside two of Indian cinema’s finest actors – Mohanlal and Prakash Raj.

Odiyan has a solid technical crew led by India’s leading stunt master Peter Hein. Pulimurugan’s cinematographer Shaji Kumar is wielding the camera and Sreekar Prasad is handling the edits. Around 70 days of shoot is left for the movie and is expected to hit screens for this year’s Onam.
