Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham overseas rights acquired for an all time record price
The overseas rights of Priyadarshan’s much hyped ‘Marakkar – Arabikkadalinte Simham’ was recently bagged by leading distribution firm Phars Films Co LLC. It i said that the rights have been acquired for Rs 10 crores, which is the highest ever for a Malayalam movie. It includes the rights for all the languages in which the movie will be releasing. The mammoth success of films like ‘Lucifer’ and ‘Madhura Raja’ have clearly inspired the distributors to invest such high amount.
After shoot got wrapped up in March, ‘Marakkar’ has been in the post-production phase. Since it is a VFX heavy film, it demands a lot of post-production work and the makers themselves had informed that it might take up to a year to complete all the works. A Los Angeles based company is handling the VFX works.
The period flick which is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar has big stars from various industries from across the country. Apart from lead actor Mohanlal, the cast comprises of his son Pranav, Suniel Shetty, Arjun Sarja, Keerthy Suresh, Ashok Selvan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Prabhu, Mukesh, Siddique, Manju Warrier, Baburaj, Nedumudi Venu, Hareesh Perady, Nandu, Innocent, Ganesh Kumar, Suresh Kumar and many others.
‘Marakkar’ is said to be made on a budget of around Rs 100 crores. Mohanlal’s Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are jointly producing the movie.
