Mohanlal to play an 85 year old in 1971 : Beyond Borders
We had earlier reported that Mohanlal will be seen in two roles in his upcoming war drama, 1971: Beyond Borders, directed by Major Ravi. He is playing the roles of Major Mahadevan and his father Sahadevan in the movie.
Major Ravi has informed that Sahadevan’s character will appear in two timelines – as a Major and a retired 85 year old Brigadier. This is Mohanlal’s fourth movie in the Major Mahadevan series after Keerthichakra, Kurukshetra and Kandahar. In the movie, Mahadevan has now been promoted to the rank of Colonel. He is currently working in the UNO peace keeping battalion in Georgia.
Sahadevan’s portions form the major chunk of the movie. His portions were filmed in the deserts of Rajasthan where the scenes involving the 1971 war between India and Pakistan was set. Battle tanks were used for shooting the war sequences. Mahadevan’s portions were shot in the Eurasian country, Georgia. Reportedly, the two characters will not be seen together in the movie.
Apart from Mohanlal, the movie also features Bollywood actor Arunoday Singh and Tollywood hero Allu Sirish in pivotal roles. Asha Sarath, model turned actresses Priyanka Agarwal and Zoya Zayed Khan, Renji Panicker, Sudheer Karamana, Saiju Kurup and many others are also part of the cast.
Haneef Ahmed has produced this big budget movie under the banner Red Rose Creations. The makers have confirmed the release in Tamil and Telugu. They are currently in talks with distributors in Hindi.
Sujith Vassudev has handled the cinematography while Rahul Subramanian and Sidharth Vipin are composing the music for this movie. The movie is expected to hit screens for the Vishu season in April.
