Mohanlal’s Randamoozham is happening; 600 crores budget

Mohanlal had a glorious 2016 delivering 4 back to back successful movies in two languages. He became the first actor in Indian cinema to give two 100 crore movies back to back in two different languages. Both Janatha Garage and Pulimurugan set the cash registers ringing with the latter becoming the first Malayalam movie ever to cross the 100 crore club. Oppam released before Pulimurugan also was a blockbuster crossing the 50 crore mark. So the actor was continuously in news last year. Fittingly, the actor was adjourned Manorama’s newsmaker of the year 2016.

Mohanlal made an exciting announcement during the function. Long awaited epic movie Randamoozham is finally happening. Script works by MT Vasudevan Nair has been completed. Mohanlal said, the movie will be made on a whopping budget of Rs 600 crores. Earlier it was reported that acclaimed filmmaker Hariharan would be helming this project. Later it was reported that ad filmmaker Sreekumar will direct the project. But according to latest reports, the director has not yet been finalized.

Mohanlal will play the character of Bheeman in this movie which is based on the epic Kurukshetra war in Mahabaratha. Randamoozham will be made as a multilingual with several stars from other industries also part of the cast.

It must be remembered that Prithviraj Sukumaran is acting as the historic character Karnan in the upcoming movie titled as Karnan, directed by Ennu Ninte Moideen fame RS Vimal. Preproduction works of the movie has already been started in Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad. This big budget movie made on a budget of 300 crores is expected to go on floors by May this year.

Mammootty is also set to play Karnan in a movie scripted by actor/writer P Sreekumar in a project helmed by national award winning filmmaker Madhupal.

The gargantuan success of Pulimurugan has inspired filmmakers from Malayalam industry to plan projects on a bigger canvas. Exciting times ahead for Mollywood.
