Motor vehicle strike postponed; Grand release for The Great Father on March 30
Megastar Mammootty’s most awaited movie, The Great Father is all set to hit screens on March 30. The movie is written and directed by debutant Haneef Adeni. The actor’s fans have been promoting the movie like never before. It is Mammootty’s most hyped movie in recent years and hence there is a never before seen kind of pre-release buzz surrounding the movie.
Mammootty fans were in a spot of bother after a motor vehicle strike was called by the unions on March 30. The strike was called to protest against the Central government’s decision to hike the third party insurance premium by 50 per cent. The unions have demanded to roll back of the decision to increase the premium. However, according to latest reports, the strike has been postponed to March 31, Friday.
This has come as a huge relief for the fans, theatre owners and distributors who have pinned high expectations on The Great Father. Advance booking for the opening day shows were already started and special fans shows were also been arranged in more than 80 centres all over Kerala. The strike would have played spoilsport on one of the most awaited movies of the year.
The Great Father is expected to have a massive opening and Mammootty fans are keeping their fingers crossed for the movie to register a new record in the opening day collections. The movie is said to be a revenge thriller with Mammootty essaying the role of David Ninan. Sneha will be seen as his wife, Michelle David in the movie. Kollywood actor Arya will be seen in a pivotal character as Andrews Eapen.
August Cinemas owned by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Santhosh Sivan, Arya and Shaji Natesan have funded this movie.
