Peranbu and Pariyerum Perumal are two of the best films we saw this year: ‘Vikram Vedha’ fame Pushkar-Gayathri

The 49th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is scheduled to be held from November 20th to 28th in Goa. The organizers had recently released the list of Indian Panorama films for the year. Four Tamil films will be screened at the festival this year. ‘Peranbu’, ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, ‘Tolet’ and ‘Baaram’ are the four movies selected for screening.

Congratulating the makers on their achievement, director duo Pushkar-Gayathri, best known for their film ‘Vikram Vedha’, recently put up a tweet. As per their tweet, ‘Peranbu’ and ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ are two of the best films that the couple have seen this year. The tweet reads,

“Two of the best films we saw this year #Peranbu by @Director_Ram and his former A.D @mari_selvaraj ‘s #PariyerumPerumal selected for the Indian Panorama at #IFFI #Goa! Awesome! More and more people need to see these films! @am_kathir @beemji @mammukka @yoursanjali @plthenappan”

Though ‘Peranbu’ is yet to have its theatrical release, the movie has already been screened to the industry insiders. The Ram directorial is eagerly awaited by the cinephiles. Starring Mammootty and ‘Thanga Meengal’ fame Sadhana in the lead, the movie tells the story of a poignant father-daughter relationship.

‘Peranbu’ won international acclaim after it was screened at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR) and the Shanghai International Film Festival. It secured 20th position amongst the 187 films considered for the audience award category in IFFR and was also nominated for the prestigious NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) award.
