Peranbu ranked 20th among the 187 movies considered for audience award category at Rotterdam Film Festival

Mammootty’s highly anticipated Tamil movie Peranbu was recently screened at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR). The movie was also selected among the 20 ‘Must Watch’ movies at the festival. Now, the movie has got another great honour at the festival. Based on the voting of the festival audience, Peranbu bagged the 20th position amongst the 187 films considered for the audience award category. It was also nominated for the NETPAC award.

Director Ram informed this proud news last day through his official Facebook page. His post reads,

In the 47th International Film Festival of Rotterdam, only the director’s first two films are eligible for the main competition category. Our film Peranbu a.k.a. Resurrection was eligible only for the Audience Award Category.

Based on the voting of the festival audience, Peranbu secured the 20th position amongst 187 films considered for the Audience award category. Also, Peranbu was nominated for the NETPAC award.

We sincerely thank the organisers of International Film Festival of Rotterdam for the opportunity and the festival audience for voting Peranbu to the top 20.

Also we would like to thank Mr. Olaf Moeller, the curator of House on Fire section, Mr. Stefan Borsos and the festival organisers for screening Tamil films under the House on Fire section at 47th International Film Festival of Rotterdam.

Peranbu is an intense emotional family drama featuring Mammootty as Amudhan, a caring father. He plays the role of a middle-class father working as a taxi driver abroad. The movie also has Anjali, Sarath Kumar, Baby Sadhana, transgender artist Anjali Ameer, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Kaniha and Samuthirakani playing significant roles.

Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music while editing is handled by multiple National award winner Sreekar Prasad. The movie is produced by PL Thennappan under the banner Sri Rajalakshmi Films. Peranbu will be releasing in India soon after it completes its round on the festival circuit.
