Pranav is an absolute natural in acting, he’s got his father’s genes: Kalyani Priyadarshan

As we had reported earlier, Kalyani Priyadarshan is making his Malayalam debut with her father’s upcoming biggie, ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’. The movie is like a family reunion of sorts for Kalyani as it has her father, brother Sidharth, Mohanlal, his son Pranav, IV Sasi’s son Ani Sasi and Keerthy Suresh handling various roles in the team.

Kalyani has already shot a few portions for the film. Most of her combination scenes are with Pranav, whom she fondly calls Appu chetta. In a recent interview with TOI, the actress was all praise for Pranav and his ability to remember lengthy dialogues. She is quoted saying, “Appu chetta is an absolute natural at what he does and he’s definitely got his father’s genes.”

Apparently, Kalyani was surprised by Pranav’s ability to remember the lines. Since it’s a period film, the Malayalam used in the movie is complex and difficult to render. But Pranav could remember everything after a single read. The duo have shot together for a few portions and the remaining scenes will be canned in January.

‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ shoot is currently progressing in Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad. This epic movie based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV has Mohanlal playing the titular role. Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief of Zamorin of Calicut in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army.

While Mohanlal plays the lead character of the fourth Marakkar, his son Pranav will be essaying the younger part of his character. Though the makers are yet to make an official announcement, reports suggest that the cast also comprises of Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Mukesh, Madhu, Manju Warrier and Pooja Kumar. Few foreign actors will also be seen in the movie.

Marakkar is produced jointly by Mohanlal’s Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment.
