Prithviraj is a spectacular filmmaker and his shot taking has an international quality: Vivek Oberoi
In the past, we have seen a lot of established actors trying their hand in filmmaking. Young star Prithviraj Sukumaran is perhaps the first from his generation of actors to wear the director’s hat and that too with a movie starring none other than Mohanlal. The very announcement of his directorial debut ‘Lucifer’ made waves in social medias. Now that the movie is actually on floors, there is a lot of buzz going around about it.
Prithviraj’s sound knowledge about cinema and its technical aspects is very much popular in Malayalam cinema circles. The clarity with which he speaks about filmmaking and his vision have been lauded by many in the past. Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi, who is making his Malayalam debut with Lucifer, is all praise for Prithviraj’s skills as a filmmaker.
In a recent interview to ToI, Oberoi is quoted saying, “Prithvi is as spectacular as a director and his shot taking has an international quality. It reminds me of how Ram Gopal Varma was in his Company and Sarkar days.” Earlier, Murali Gopy, the scriptwriter of Lucifer, had said that Prithviraj is an extremely focussed and supremely confident director.
Lucifer, according to the makers, is a political thriller with elements of a mass entertainer. Mohanlal is playing a politician’s role in the movie. Vivek Oberoi plays the antagonist and actors like Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier and Saniya Iyappan are also part of the cast.
