Pulimurugan’s Tamil version opens to good response in Tamil Nadu
The Tamil remake of Malayalam cinema’s biggest ever blockbuster Pulimurugan has hit screens today. The movie was released in 305 centres all over Tamil Nadu. Both the 2D and 3D versions were released simultaneously. It is reportedly one of the biggest ever release for a dubbed movie in Tamil Nadu.
The movie has opened to good response from the Tamil audience. Viewers have particularly appreciated Mohanlal’s power packed performance in the action scenes.
RP Bala has written the Tamil dialogues and interestingly, Mohanlal himself has dubbed in Tamil for the movie. Pulimurugan has an universally appealing story about man vs wild. The movie is centred around the protagonist Murugan,who is known in the locality for hunting down man eating tigers. Since the plot is an universal one, it is easy for audience irrespective of any language to connect with the movie.
The Telugu version of Pulimurugan- Manyam Puli was also a huge success. The movie did an overall business of over 15 crores from the twin states of Telengana and Andhra Pradesh.
Mohanlal’s superb performance in the fight scenes and the terrifically shot sequences involving the tigers are the movie’s major attractions.
Tomichan Mulakupadam produced this big budget movie under the banner of Mulakupadam Films.
The Malayalam version, written by Udhayakrishna and directed by Vysakh had a record breaking run at the box office. The movie did a worldwide business of around Rs 150 crores, thereby becoming the only Malayalam movie to have crossed the 100 cr mark till date.
