Release date announced for SS Rajamouli’s RRR
After the record-breaking success of his ‘Baahubali’ films, ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli is currently working on ‘RRR’, a period flick that is being made on a much bigger scale and canvas. Tollywood’s young superstars Ram Charan and Jr NTR are playing the lead roles. Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Samuthirakani will be seen essaying other crucial roles.
Though ‘RRR’ was initially planned as a summer 2020 release, the makers have now postponed it as shoot has only reached the halfway stage. Last day, it was officially announced that the film will be hitting screens worldwide on January 8, 2021. Apart from the original Telugu version, the film will be released in all major regional Indian languages.
‘RRR’ is a fictitious story that revolves around India’s freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) who fought against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively. SS Rajamouli’s father KV Vijayendra Prasad, who usually pens stories for his films, has written the story for ‘RRR’ as well. Rajamouli has penned the screenplay and dialogues are by Sai Madhav Burra and Madhan Karky.
The film is being made on a huge budget of over Rs 400 crore. Almost the same technical crew from ‘Baahubali’ has been retained, which includes DOP KK Senthil Kumar, editor Sreekar Prasad, music director MM Keeravani, production designer Sabu Cyril, VFX supervisor Srinivas Mohan and costume designer Rama Rajamouli.
