Sanchit Balhara of Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani fame to compose background music in Mamangam
Mammootty starrer ‘Mamangam’ is getting ready as one of the biggest films ever made in Malayalam. Enduring multiple hurdles on the way, the makers have finally reached the last leg of shoot. M Padmakumar is calling the shots and Venu Kunnappilly is producing this mega budget movie under the banner of Kavya Films.
This period flick set in the 15th century is based on ‘Mamangam’, a medieval fair where brave warriors from various regions would come together to showcase their skills at combat. The movie has Mammootty in the lead role of a fiery ‘Chaaver’ (warrior). It revolves around the life of these warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers.
The movie has some big names in the technical crew. Kerala State award winner Manoj Pillai is the cinematographer and songs are composed by veteran M Jayachandran. Bollywood based composer Sanchit Balhara is handling the music department. He is best known for his work in similar epic films like ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ and the more recent ‘Kalank’.
Since ‘Mamangam’ is an action-packed film, the makers had earlier got Kaecha Kampakdee to supervise the stunts. He was replaced by Sham Kaushal, a very popular action choreographer in B-Town. He has worked in movies like ‘Dangal’, ‘Krrish 3’ and ‘Bhajrangi Bhaijaan’. Some of his other noted works include ‘Gunday’, ‘Padmaavat’, Bajirao Mastani, ‘Dhoom 3’ and ‘Phantom’. ‘Mamangam’ is his second film with Mammootty on the trot after ‘Unda’.
Along with the strong technical crew, ‘Mamangam’ also has a big star cast. Young star Unni Mukundan is essaying a prominent role as Chandroth Panicker. Kaniha and Anu Sithara play the two female leads. Tarun Raj Arora, Prachi Tehlan, Sudev Nair, Siddique, Abu Salim, Sudheer Sukumaran and many others are part of the movie.
