A sequel for Pokkiri’s Hindi version Wanted is on the cards

Salman Khan was going through a lean period before 2009, when Prabhudeva roped him to play the lead in Wanted, the official remake of Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri. Prabhudeva also remade this movie in Tamil as Pokkiri with Vijay as the lead. Both the movies were huge blockbusters, with the Salman Khan starrer triggering a new trend of mass masala films in Bollywood.

Wanted was caught up in a legal tussle after the makers Boney Kapoor, Sridevi, Prabhu Deva, and Salman Khan were booked in a case of alleged copyright infringement and plagiarism. A noted Hindi filmmaker Birbal Singh Rana alleged that Wanted was a copy of one of his scripts.

Finally, after seven long years, the court has given it’s final verdict in the case. The judgement was in favour of the team of Wanted and acquitted them from all charges. After the acquittal, while talking to a North Indian media, Boney Kapoor was asked about the possibility of a sequel to Wanted. The veteran told that he would do it if he comes across a suitable script and Salman Khan agrees to do it. It would be great if the superstar hops on board for Wanted 2 as his fans will get to see his charisma as a police officer once again after the Dabaang series.

Salman Khan, of late has been very selective with his scripts. His next release Tubelight is one of the most awaited movies of the year. The movie, directed by Kabir Khan also stars Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo role. It is an historical war drama set in the 1962 Indo-China war period and is scheduled to hit screens for this year’s Eid.

Salman has also committed for Tiger Zinda Hai, the sequel to his blockbuster spy thriller Ek Tha Tiger. The movie will be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and stars Katrina Kaif as the female lead.
