Six Malayalam films selected for screening at 49th IFFI
The 49th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is scheduled to held from November 20th to 28th in Goa. The organizers have released the list of Indian Panorama films for the year. Six Malayalam films will be screened at the festival this year.
Shaji N Karun’s ‘Oolu’ will be the opening film at the festival. Abrid Shine’s ‘Poomaram’, Zakariya Mohammed’s ‘Sudani From Nigeria’, Jayaraj’s ‘Bhayanakam’, Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Ee Maa Yau’ and Raheem Khader’s ‘Makkana’ are the other Malayalam films. From Tamil cinema, Mammootty starrer ‘Peranbu’, ‘Pariyerum Perumal, ‘Tolet’ and ‘Baaram’ have been selected.
The feature film Jury of thirteen members was headed by acclaimed film director and screenwriter Rahul Rawail. Major Ravi, Ahathian, Ujjwal Chatterjee, Imo Singh, Utpal Datta, Sekhar Das, Mahendra Teredesai, Haidar Ali, KG Suresh, Chandra Siddarth, Adeep Tandon and S Viswanath were the other members in the 13 member jury.
In the non-feature category, there Malayalam films were selected – Shiny Jacob Benjamin’s ‘Sword of Liberty’, Remy Raj’s ‘Midnight Run’ and ‘Vinod Mankara’s ‘Lasyam’. In the IFFI’s mainstream category, ‘Mahanati’, ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ and ‘Raazi’ have been selected for screening.
