The 53rd Kerala State Film Awards were announced; Mammootty and Vincy Aloysius won top honors.

The 53rd Kerala State Film Awards were announced this evening by Honourable Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Saji Cherian. The award has been decided by the Malayalam Films that were released or censored in 2022. Mammootty won the Best Actor award for his performance in Lijo Jose Pellisserry’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, and Vincy Aloysius bagged the Best Actress award for the movie Rekha. Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam won the award for best film, and Mahesh Narayanan won the best director award for the movie Ariyippu.

Kunchacko Boban and Alencier Ley Lopez won special jury awards for their performances in Nna Thaan Case Kodu and Appan, respectively. Nna Thaan Case Kodu won seven awards, including best screenplay and Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value.
