Thuramukham garners excellent response from critics
Nivin Pauly’s Thuramukham, which managed to hit screens last Friday after overcoming numerous hurdles, is getting excellent response from the critics. Many have rated it as one of the finest Malayalam films based on a real-life incident. The Rajeev Ravi directorial is a hard-hitting documentation of the 1953 police firing in Mattanchery that killed three protesting workers. Performances of all the lead actors and the recreation of a forgotten era has also found appreciation from many.
Gopan Chidambaran has scripted ‘Thuramukham’ based on his father KM Chidambaran’s play of the same name. Nivin Pauly plays a character named Moidu, and Arjun Ashokan essays his brother’s role. Joju George and Poornima Indrajith essay the roles of their parents. The film has some brilliant actors in the supporting cast including Indrajith Sukumaran, Nimisha Sajayan, Sudev Nair, Darshana Rajendran and Manikandan Achari.
