Tovino excited to be part of National award winner Salim Ahamed’s next
As we had reported earlier, Tovino Thomas is playing the lead in award winning filmmaker Salim Ahamed’s next. The movie titled as ‘And The Oscar Goes To’ has Tovino playing the role of a struggling Malayali filmmaker. The movie is inspired from the lives of many aspiring filmmakers. Tovino, who has been very choosy with his projects, has pinned high hopes on this movie.
In a recent interview, the actor sounded very excited about being part of a Salim Ahamed directorial. He is quoted saying, “I had watched Adaminte Makan while I was frequenting film festivals and his other films in theatre. He’s also someone who I have a good rapport with. When we met at Filmfare awards two years ago, we could instantly strike up a conversation and spent a long time discussing films. So, in a way I’m excited to be part of this film.”
Salim Ahamed is known for extracting the best out of his actors. His debut movie, Adaminte Makan Abu won Salim Kumar a National Award for best actor. The movie was chosen as India’s official entry for the best foreign film category in the 84th Academy Awards. His last film, Pathemari starring Mammootty won the National award for best Malayalam film that year. Expectations will be on the higher side for his upcoming movie with Tovino.
Shoot for the movie will be commencing in September. Los Angeles, US and Canada have been finalized as the major locations. Anu Sithara and a foreigner will be playing the two female leads. An official announcement with details regarding the whole cast and crew is expected to be made shortly.
