Veeram hero Kunal Kapoor admits to be a very big fan of Mohanlal and Mammootty
Director Jayaraj’s highly anticipated epic historic drama Veeram is all set to hit screens tomorrow. The movie is an adaptation of the legendary Willaim Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The movie is director Jayaraj’s fifth in the Navarasa series.
The movie features Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor in the lead role of Chandu Chekavar, a warrior from the Vadakkan Pattukal of North Malabar region in Kerala. The character Chandu Chekavar has been played by many actors on screen and the most famous being Mammootty’s iconic performance im Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha.
Kunal Kapoor in a recent interview opened up his admiration of the Malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty.
He admitted to being a hard core fan of Mammootty and Mohanlal. Though he has watched almost all their movies, he is yet to watch Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha. The actor consciously stood away from the movie as he believed that he will try to emulate or maybe copy or pick up something from it. He felt that will take away from the originality in his performance. Kunal Kapoor also added that no one in the world could match Mammootty’s performance from the movie.
The actor trained hard for months to develop a warrior’s physique in addition to learning sword fight and the martial art, Kalaripayattu for playing his part in the movie.
Veeram is releasing amid tremendous hype after the impressive teasers that were shared by Bollywood superstars. Hrithik Roshan shared the trailer in his official Twitter account followed by Aamir Khan who also appreciated Kunal Kapoor’s hardwork. The country’s biggest superstar Amitabh Bachchan, released the official theme song of the movie today through his official Facebook page.
The movie is jointly produced by Chandramohan Pillai and Pradeep Rajan of Chandrakala Arts on a large canvas with a budget of nearly 35 crores.
Jayaraj roped in some popular names from the west to handle the technical departments of the movie. Allan Poppleton, who has worked in Hollywood films like Lord of the Rings and Avatar has choreographed the stunt sequences in the movie. Jeff Rona, who was an associate of the legendary Hans Zimmer, is handling the music department. Emmy and Acadmey Award winning make-up artist Trefor Proud is also part of the technical team of Veeram.
