Vinayakan, a competitor for Mohanlal? Here is what Vinayakan had to say
After a lot of anticipation Vinayakan finally won the best actor award for the year 2016 in the recently annouced Kerala State Film Awards. The actor bagged the top honours for his amazing performance in Rajeev Ravi’s Kammattipadam.
Yesterday, a customary press meet was held with Vinayakan having a brief interaction the media persons. Vinayakan, who started from a humble background reached this level after making his debut two decades back. He talked about his upbringing, how he made it to the industry, need for compassion, moral policing and more.
When quizzed about his immediate reaction after he won the award he said that the thought of winning the award crossed his mind for just ten minutes and after that he was back to his usual self. He also revealed that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Mohanlal had called him to congratulate on winning the State award.
On a lighter note, a journalist asked Vinayakan whether he will become a competitor to Mohanlal. Vinayakan laughed it off typically and replied, ‘A rival to Lalettan? Oh my God.‘
Interestingly, Vinayakan started his acting career as a fire dancer in Mohanlal’s Maanthrikam released back in 1995. He has also shared screen space with Mohanlal in movies like Onnaman, Chotta Mumbai and Sagar Alias Jacky Reloaded.
