Can Salman Khan’s Tubelight break Baahubali 2’s records?

Baahubali 2 has shattered all pre-existing records in Indian cinema. The movie’s Hindi version alone is nearing Rs 400 crores and is already the highest grosser in Bollywood.

With Salman Khan’s much awaited movie Tubelight gearing up for release, talks are already on about it’s chances of toppling Baahubali. Recently, Tubelight’s director Kabir Khan, was asked whether he is under any pressure to deliver a huge hit. The director said that they have already much pressure and hence do not want to mount the Baahubali pressure to that.

Kabir Khan does not believe in making movies for box office pressure. He wants to experiment with different themes. That is the reason why he chose to do a movie like Tubelight after delivering the all time blockbuster Bhajrangi Bhaijaan.

Tubelight is Kabir Khan’s third movie with Salman, after Ek Tha Tiger in 2012, Bajrangi Bhaijaan in 2015. Tubelight is an official adaptation of the movie Little Boy. The movie is set against the backdrop of the 1962 Indo-Sino War. It will focus on the sufferings of residents at the time of the war period. There will also be an endearing romantic track in between. Salman Khan’s brother Sohail Khan is playing a pivotal character in this movie. Another major highlight of Tubelight is that Shah Rukh Khan has played a cameo role. The movie is all set to hit theatres this Eid on June 23.

Kerala Box Office : 1971 Beyond Borders Collection Report 35 Days

Mohanlal’s last outing was 1971 Beyond Borders, the fourth installment in the Major Mahadevan series directed by Major Ravi. The movie was a disappointing affair even for the star’s hardcore fans.

Mohanlal was riding on the back of three huge blockbusters- Oppam, Pulimurugan and Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol before he hit roadblock with 1971 Beyond Borders. The Major Ravi directorial was panned heavily by the critics for it’s age old storytelling and making style.

Only a handful of theatres are screening the movie in the state. According to latest reports from trade sources, the movie has managed to gross just Rs 6.71 crores from it’s 35 days theatrical run. The producer’s share is estimated to be approximately Rs 3 crores alone.

The film, based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war was made as a big budget movie with a huge star cast. The director had roped in several actors from other industries like Allu Sirish, Arunoday Singh, Srushti Dange and Priyanka Agarwal to give it a pan- Indian appeal. Haneef Muhammed’s Red Rose Creations produced the movie.

Shah Rukh Khan is all praise for Baahubali

While Baahubali is making history in Indian cinema, the Khans of Bollywood kept quiet and did not respond to anything related to this national sensation. Finally, Shah Rukh Khan has decided to end the silence.

The Badshah of Bollywood recently inaugurated the INOX multiplex chain’s new theatre in Mumbai. While talking to the media present there, Shah Rukh was all praise for Baahubali. He compared Baahubali to Hollywood films like Transformers and said ‘our own Baahubali’.

He also appreciated the growth in technology that has enhanced the movie watching experience. He said when wonderful films like Transformers are being made around the world, our own Baahubali is also giving that kind of a cinematic experience.

Baahubali 2, sequel in the Baahubali franchise, has emerged as the highest grossing Indian movie ever. The SS Rajamouli directorial has shown what Indian cinema is capable of and the real potential of our movies in the global market. Above all, Baahubali broke the popular notion that Indian cinema is more than Bollywood.

It toppled the lifetime collections of Aamir Khan’s PK (Rs 792 cr) within it’s first 10 days of it’s theatrical run. The Prabhas starrer has earned over Rs 1200 crores from the worldwide box office. Trade experts firmly believe that the movie will cross the 1500 crore mark very shortly.

Tovino was the cynosure of all eyes after the success of Guppy and Oru Mexican Aparatha. His Facebook posts about relevant social issues and his outspoken nature was loved by all, earning him a large fan following.

However, things went topsy-turvy very soon. The actor alleges that there is some sort of mass campaign going on against him in social medias. He told this in a recent TV chat show. The actor was on a theatre visit spree across the state as part of promotions for Oru Mexican Aparatha. Apparently, someone from the crowd had pinched him which irked the actor. This triggered a series of trolls against him with many alleging him as being arrogant and showing his starry airs.
