Gautham Menon slams rumours about Nivin Pauly-Vikram project

Recently there were reports about Nivin Pauly and Vikram acting together in a movie directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. It was reported that Nivin Pauly will play a dual role in this project while Vikram plays a baddie. However, the filmmaker has now dismissed the reports.

The director said that, the reports are totally false and baseless. The reports started surfacing the social media pages after Nivin Pauly recently met Gautham Menon for a discussion in Chennai. Nivin Pauly had earlier confirmed that the he will be teaming up with Gautham Menon for a movie but was tight-lipped about the genre or when the movie will start rolling.

Gautham Menon meanwhile will soon start shooting for his next movie, a multistarrer that also features Mollywood’s young star Prithviraj Sukumaran as one of the leads. The movie will have leading stars from all the four South Indian industries. Reportedly titled as Ondraga, the movie will start rolling from August this year in the United States.

Nivin Pauly’s upcoming Tamil movie, directed by debutant Gautham Ramachandran, is in the final stages of its post-production. This yet to be titled movie is the official remake of Kannada superhit movie Ulidavru Kandanthe. The movie also stars Ashok Selvan, Natarajan Subramaniam, Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli in other pivotal roles.

He has also signed for Atlee’s first production venture directed by debutant Surya Balakumaran and a movie with Prabhu Radhakrishnan to be produced by RD Raja.

Mohanlal has been enjoying stardom for over three decades. He has a wide fan base ranging from teenagers to people in their 40s and 50s. He has a very loyal fan following who have stood by him even when he has had occasional blips in his career. The actor has always been a very social and approachable person who has always respected his fans.

Recently in an interview, Mohanlal was asked whether he has consciously attempted to please fans by giving them priority over the movie’s content. He replied, there was no need for him to do that, as he felt that trend is not prevalent in Malayalam. Mohanlal also added that films are meant to be watched by a wider audience and not just the fans.

He said, “I have never done that but our directors and writers might have. Like say add a few scenes where I have to twirl my mustache or insert dialogues such as “Po Mone Dinesha” that were majorly used as a tagline for the fans. But personally, I have not told anyone to include any scene to please the fans. I think that trend doesn’t exist in Malayalam. In Tamil movies if you look, for instance, in Vijay’s movie, a mass intro scene and a dance sequence with him are must haves. When these are missing, the fans get disappointed. Our audience luckily doesn’t need that. I have believed that if you make movies just for fans, they won’t be good. Films are not meant to be watched by everyone and not by the fans alone. Fans are those who like what we do. When we do things that only they like, then we are becoming their fans.”

After giving the blockbuster success with Pulimurugan, Mohanlal fans are eagerly awaiting for his next release Munthirivallikalal Thalirkkumbol. While Pulimurugan was an action packed mass entertainer, the new release will be a clean family entertainer where Mohanlal is playing a character of his age.

We had earlier reported that veteran director Kamal will be making a biopic on the life of Malayalam’s legendary writer Madhavikutty.

National award winning Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is playing the lead role in this movie titled as Aami. Prithviraj Sukumaran is also touted to playing an important role in the movie.

For the past few days, several reports were doing the rounds in social media pages claiming that Vidya Balan has backed out of the project. The reason cited for Vidya walking out of the project was that she and director Kamal had differences of opinion over Narendra Modi’s stands, with Vidya supporting the Prime Minister and Kamal criticising him.

However, sources close to the movie have dismissed the reports. It is learnt that the film’s dates have been pushed around because of the ongoing film strike. Vidya Balan is very much part of the film, and everything is going as planned.

The biopic, titled Aami, portrays the life of Kamala Surayya in two phases. She was a very popular writer whose life was also marred by many controversies as well. She revolutionized writings with her honest treatment of female sexuality and infused her writing with power and bold themes.

Prithviraj Sukumaran, Murali Gopy and Anoop Menon are playing pivotal characters in the movie.

Though Anil Radhakrishna Menon has directed only three films he has already made a mark for himself in the film industry. All his three movies had different themes and settings. Now the director has announced his next movie titled as Divanjimoola Grand Prix.

The director himself announced the news by posting a first look poster of the movie in his official Facebook account. A mud racing bike is also seen in the poster, so we believe that it is about a group of youngsters who are passionate about riding bikes.

Like his earlier movies, the new movie also has a peculiar title name. The movie will star newcomers along with Nyla Usha and Nedumudi Venu. Nedumudi Venu was part of all three movies of Anil Radhakrishna Menon – North 24 Kaatham, Sapthmashree Thaskaraha and Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi. The director is now on the look for casting the actors. Apparently, the movie will have no main leads as such. Each character will have equal prominence.

Divanjimoola Grand Prix is scripted by the director along with Kozhikode collector Prashanth Nair, popularly known as collector bro.
This movie will be fun adventure film set in Thrissur. The director got the idea for the movie from a portion of the script for a Tamil movie he had written before making his debut.

His next directed the superhit movie Sapthamashree Thaskaraha, a heist movie about 7 jail mates planning a robbery. The movie was a multi starrer with Prithviraj Sukumaran and Asif Ali in the lead roles. He then directed, Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi, another multi starrer. Though the movie was a failure in the box office, the director was appreciated by the critics for his honest attempt in trying to make the movie on a bigger canvas.

The actress was at his swashbuckling best in the stunt scenes with the popular “mund oori adi”. Sphadikam directed by Bhadran was a never before seen mass entertainer in Malayalam. Before the shoot of the popular interval block stunt scene in Premam, Alphonse Puthren had asked Nivin Pauly and his co-stars to watch the introduction fight scene of Mohanlal in Sphadikam. Nivin Pauly said, they watched the scene several times and that inspired them to perform the action block perfectly. This particular scene from Premam totally elevates the movie to another level. The character arc of George the protagonist is cleverly shown through this one brilliantly conceived sequence. Premam went on to become a massive blockbuster and even entered the 50 crore club. The movie had a huge fan following in Tamil Nadu where it had a theatrical run of over 250 days.

Nivin Pauly’s second avatar as the college student in Premam became a sensation during that time. The traditional mundu, black shirt and Ray Ban sunglass soon trended among the youngsters. But it was conspicuous that the look was heavily inspired from Mohanlal’s iconic Aadu Thoma.

This is just another example of how deeply Mohanlal has inspired youngsters who have just entered the industry.

The Bengaluru mass molestation during New Year’s night has put the whole country in shame. The incident took place in the iconic MG Road stretch in the city. It has become a national shame with criticisms coming in from all corners of the society. Film personalities like Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon have expressed their anger over the incident. Mollywood actress Manju Warrier has now condemned the incident through a post in her official Facebook page.

She has written that the incident in Bangalore has hurt the entire woman community. Her post reads, “It is not only the problem of Bangalore city alone but the whole humanity. We should hang our heads out of shame. More than the incident, it is the politicians’ remarks that that it is more painful. Many politicians blamed the women for stepping out at nights and their dressing style as the reason for molestation. Nights and dressing style are not the testament for molesting a woman.

The Bengaluru city police has been facing lot of criticism after a group of men groped, stalked and harassed women on New Year’s Eve, as thousands of people were partying in the city’s biggest commercial stretch. Around 50 CCTV cameras installed there recorded the crowd and soon the video footage started circulated in social media pages. Women were seen crying and screaming for help.

Let’s hope that the culprits are arrested and given severe punishment so that there will be no such incidents in the future. Gandhiji once said, the day a woman can walk freely on the roads at night, that day we can say that India has achieved independence. We should all work hand in hand to fulfill that dream.

Alphonse Puthren has been away from the industry after giving the all time blockbuster Premam. There have been many speculations about Alphonse Puthren’s upcoming projects. There were rumours about Alphonse remaking Premam in Hindi. Also there were talks about a trilingual with Simbu, but all that ended as mere rumours.

Now we are getting reports from various sources that Alphonse’s next project will be in Kollywood. The director is already a popular face among the Tamil movie lovers after his first two movies Neram and Premam. The latter especially was a massive success in Tamil Nadu enjoying a theatrical run of over 250 days in the State. The Nivin Pauly starrer made waves in the industry registering collections more than 50 crores from the box office.

Reportedly, the two-film-old director’s next movie in Tamil will have a cameo appearance by none other than Megastar Mammootty. Other details regarding the movie are not yet known. After completing his Kollywood movie, Alphonse will be returning back to Malayalam by directing superstar Mohanlal in his next. It must be remembered that Alphonse Puthren was the one who edited Oppam’s trailer. He also attended Oppam’s 100 days celebrations held in Kochi recently.

Both Premam and Neram were appreciated for it’s technical brilliance. Though both the movies did not boast of out of the box storylines, it was the presentation and Alphonse’s finesse in technical aspects that worked. When working with big stars he will have the liberty of using bigger budgets that can enhance the total quality of the movie. Fingers crossed.

In his post he has written that the script for Oru Mexican Aparatha was written by him before his debut movie Om Shanti Oshana. When he was in need of some money, he updated in Facebook for selling th script. Tom Emmatty came forward and bought it. Tom later changed the script completely. Jude has mentioned in his post that apart from the title everything else was changed. So after discussing with producer Anoop, they decided to give credits for Tom Emmatty who has rewritten the entire script.

Jude Anthany Joseph’s last release as a director was Oru Muthassi Gadha which was a moderate success in the box office. He will next be seen as the main lead along with Aju Varghese in an upcoming comedy entertainer titled as Aiswarya Vilasam Gunda Sangham. The movie is directed by Rakesh Gopan who made his debut through the multi starrer 100 Degree Celsius.

Veteran director Kamal is one of the very few filmmakers of his generation, who is still successful in the industry without getting washed by the new generation wave. The director has handled different themes with a variety of actors. On one hand he has made youthful campus movies like Niram and Nammal while he has also directed intense movies like Celluloid, Nadan and Karuthapakshikal.

It has been gap since Kamal has worked with Mohanlal. In a recent interview, the director revealed the reason for that. The veteran filmmaker feels that Mohanlal is out of his reach now. He has grown from a star to a superstar who now stands beyond the reach of the directors like him. The director admits that he cannot do movies with Mohanlal the star; but can certainly bring out the best in Mohanlal the actor. He added that both Mohanlal and his fans want to do movies that will enhance his stardom, so the actor is out of reach now.

Mohanlal and Kamal last worked together in 1998 for the movie, Ayal Kadha Ezhuthukayanu. The duo was later supposed to team up for Chakram, but the project got shelved due to various reasons. The movie was later directed by Lohithadas with Prithviraj in the lead role.

Kamal is currently working on his upcoming biopic Aami based on the life of legendary writer Kamala Surayya aka Madhavikutty. Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is portraying the writer’s character in the movie. Prithviraj Sukumaran, Anoop Menon and Murali Gopy are also playing pivotal characters.
