0

Premam cinema is still in news even after almost terminating its run from the theaters of Kerala and all those controversies regarding the censor copy and all that was happened about it. At first it was in the news when it had created collection records at box office and became the second highest grosser of Mollywood after Drishyam. It was indeed a great news for them . Then it went worse from there. The news which came after that was about the leaking of censor copy of the film and it had become hell of a controversy in Kerala. That went for many days and the culprits were caught. Then it came to news when many eminent people criticizing it and many other came to defend it. That was also not a happy way to get a place in the news headlines for the film.

Now when it seemed that everything is over it is again in the news as the DGP of Kerala had said that films like Premam had influenced the recent accident that happened in C.E.T. DGP Senkumar IPS said that he is not blaming Premam but it is a fact that films like it had influenced the youngsters which had led to the accident in college of engineering.

He also said that he will investigate the role of college authorities also in this case as the police had to know that whether their failure may also make them responsible for the accident or not. From the release of Premam students came to college following the dressing style from the film for celebrations and from many colleges students have been suspended for not following the proper dress code in college. In CET also students came to celebrate Onam wearing costumes in Premam style.

He also said that an incident in which a bike has been put on the railway track in Kottayam is in its investigated by the Railway Police as well as the local Police. Senkumar earlier hit out against the all time blockbuster of Mollywood Drishyam as well a year back when he said films like Drishyam encourage in hiding a crime.

It has happened as we all expected when Mohanlal came to hunt down the box office with his twirled moustache looks that too in a Ranjith directorial film financed by Aashirvad Cinemas. The film had released yesterday with 141 screens in Kerala and 250 all over India with 1000 shows per day which only Mohanlal can pull off in Mollywood today. Even though the film has received mixed reviews there is no stopping it in box office. There is even talk in our Malayalam film industry that if a Mohanlal film gets an average or above average response from the audience it will become a blockbuster for sure.

Yesterday even after being a working day the theaters showing Loham witnessed heavy rush and at some places extra shows has to be arranged in the evening. Even though mixed opinions were there most of it was positive and that made things easier for the film. As per the official collection report Loham has collected close to 2 crore 14 Lakhs rupees from Kerala alone on its releasing day.

By collecting close to 2.15 core, Loham had set a new opening day record as well. Now Loham is the all time best opener at Kerala Box office history and it has beaten the earlier record of 2.10 crore collection record set by Casanovva in 2012 which was also a Mohanlal starrer as well. A Mohanlal film breaking another Mohanlal film’s record and that is not a new thing here as he is the only star here who can pull off such a mass in Kerala Box office collections.

Loham also broke few more records as well. By this collection it has become the film which got the maximum collection on any single day in Mollywood and also got the record share of 1 crore rupees from its very first day. Getting a share over 1 crore from the opening day is an unbelievable feat in Mollywood Box office and Emperor of Box office has done it here.

The most talented and gracious actress of Malayalam Cinema who debuted with the film Veendum Chila Veettukaryangal and won millions of hearts with her charming smile and innocence, Samyuktha Varma. Being a debut, she won her Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress in 1999 for her performance in Sathyan Anthikkad directorial Veendum Chila Veettukaryangal opposite Jayaram, the Popular Actor. Samyuktha got married to Biju Menon, an impeccable actor in Mollywood in 2002 and left the silver screen after her last performance in Kuberan, Malayalam movie. From then, she has been a family person and the chances which came to her were denied by herself giving much importance to her family.

Samyuktha Varma in an exclusive interview with flash movie magazine confirmed that there have been many people who came to her asking for her dates including Sreenivasan and Mukesh asked her to play the role of Meena in the movie Katha Parayumbol and there was also people like Ranjith, Blessy, Geethu Mohandas who came with other projects. But she said about her importance of being with her son, Daksh as he is on his growing stage he needs proper care and love. Since, Biju Menon is also doing very well and is busy with his projects in Malayalam industry; he also confirms that his son should not miss his childhood as he missed. This caring and lovable family who focuses on the importance of their child still shares that when it’s possible Samyuktha will be back in her acting. So there is a ray of hope for the fans of Kerala to see this amazing actress on screen after a long break.

Samyuktha and Biju Menon who started their career being casted many times in the same projects resulted in gossips and these gossips added the reason to their successful relationship. The movies which they acted together are Chandranudikkunna Dikkil in 1999, Mazha and Madhuranombarakattu in 2000 and Meghamalhar in 2001. These pair has also won the Asianet Film Award for Best Star Pair in the year 2001 for Meghamalhar. Mammootty’s upcoming project to break Drishyam record !!

0

It has been a big news how Mammootty gave his dates for AK Sajan for his upcoming film titled last day as Solamante Koodaram. AK Sajan came to meet Mammootty at the sets of Kamal directorial film Utopiayile Rajavu. AK Sajan went there to narrate his latest screenplay to Mammootty. Earlier, there has been reports all over about AK Sajan had approached Superstar Suresh Gopi to play the lead character in the film. But after hearing the story Suresh Gopi did not gave his consent on acting in it and the reasons are still unknown. Some says that he told AK Sajan to wait for some more time as he have to complete some other projects which he had already committed. Suresh Gopi said to have loved the script but asked for more time to give his dates. But AK Sajan is not in a mood to wait for long. He then went to Mammootty to narrate the story and screenplay.

Mammootty heard the story at the sets of the Kamal film and AK Sajan started to narrate the screenplay there. But when almost reached to the middle of his screenplay, excited Mammootty took him to his flat and heard that remaining part alone with the director AK Sajan. The reports says that Mammooty was unbelievably thrilled by the script and he gave dates to AK Sajan on the spot and confirmed he is ready to start the project right after Utopiayile Rajavu pushing back all other projects he committed before.

If reports are to be believed the screenplay of the film is such an amazing one that it can break the record created by films like Drishyam and Premam which are respectively standing at the first and second position in the all-time blockbuster list of Mollywood. There is some strange coincidence as well. Drishyam was offered to Mammootty first but due to his other commitments the chance went to Mohanlal and he had committed and started it right away without any delay. Here it was Suresh Gopi first and the same thing happened. This time Mammootty standing in the place of Mohanlal.

Anyway if history repeats it will be the first ever Mammootty film to cross the 50 crore mark in Mollywood.

Loham Review

At last Loham arrived today to grace the Silver screens all over India after much waiting and anticipation. You all know why all those anticipation was for. It’s a Mohanlal film and adding more to that attraction it is a Ranjith directorial as well. Mohanlal’s twirled Moustache looks and mass teaser of the film raised the expectation. But Ranjith and Mohanlal told the media very early that this film is not about any mass action scenes or twirled moustache avatar celebrating the manliness of Mohanlal. To say honestly that is what happened in the film as well, the movie was not even mass or had the class subject like Ranjith said before .

Mohanlal’s character name in the film is Raju and he comes as a taxi driver to pick up someone called Jayanti from Kochi International Airport who is coming from Mumbai. Andrea Jeremiah played Jayanti’s role. Jayanti came here in search of her missing husband who is a customs officer in Calicut international airport. Meanwhile there is also a parallel track which was running about gold smuggling which involves an upcoming politician from Delhi played by Ajmal Ameer, Muhammadunni played by Siddique and some others who are involved in this smuggling whose characters are played by Suresh Krishna, Joju George, Krishna etc. The story gets in track when Mohanlal’s character Raju comes in to the way of the smugglers with a mysterious mission of his own and Raju has a team as well for settling things which includes characters played by Abu Salim, Renji Panicker etc. There the story takes its turn and goes in a thrilling pursuit over the yellow metal.

Mohanlal was just fabulous as Raju and has some other identities as well which we do not intend to reveal here. He took the film to another level with his all-around performance. His comedy numbers, action sequences and dialogues were too good. Another notable performance was from Siddique and he really stole the show with his brilliant comic timing and one liners. Others also did well and no actor let us down if their performance is concerned. Siddique and a character named Babu was the interesting core of this Lalettan movie on screen, other than Lalettan. It was overall interesting to watch these actors perform their characters in the best way.

The first half and specially the interval punch has been terrific, interesting and thrilling. The second half also went well and ends up in a ok climax. There is no lag in the film at all. But the negative we found was that the second half became a bit more predictable than the first half and even though the film had ended up with a decent climax that predictable nature reduced its impact a bit. But the reason for this predictable nature can be the hype created by the movie before its release. The publicity stunts including the moustache picture of Lalettan which was viral in social media made the difference.

The DOP by Kunjunni S Kumar and background scoring by Rajamani was average and Ranjith as a director shows his class once again with this massive thrilling effect. His script was also very good and the dialogues were pinpointed as well. Being a director Ranjith has again wondered everyone with his way of presenting. Music by Sreevalsan J Menon remained only to an average level as Loham dealt something more.

Loham is made for the fans and the elements you want is in it and it will never make you bore or yawn inside the cinema hall. To all the people who have high expectation please don’t expect a Narasimham or Aaram Thamburan kind of movie but Loham itself is an experience and a moderate expectation can make you feel a lot better. It will never let you down as a fan or a neutral spectator. The mannerisms, expressions of Lalettan will just make you flow with the movie. Watch it at the theatres and enjoy !
