Dulquer Salmaan’s new film titled as Hey Sinamika

Popular dance choreographer Brindha Gopal’s directorial debut with Dulquer Salmaan has started rolling in Chennai today. The film has been titled as ‘Hey Sinamika’. It must be noted that the title has been borrowed from a superhit song from Dulquer’s 2015 film ‘OK Kanmani’. Full fledged shoot will be beginning very shortly.

Though it is yet to be confirmed by the makers, it is widely reported that ‘Hey Sinamika’ will be a rom-com entertainer. Kajal Aggarwal and Aditi Rao Hydari have been signed as the female leads. Since this is the first time that the three lead actors will be sharing screen space with each other, it will be interesting to see their on-screen rapport.

On the technical front, Govind Vasantha of ’96’ fame is in charge of the music department and cinematography will be handled by Preetha Jayaraman. Jio Studios is producing the film, which is also their maiden production venture in Tamil.

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Churuli was shot in just 19 days!!

After the widespread acclaim garnered by his films ‘Angamaly Diaries’, ‘Ee Maa Yau’ and ‘Jallikkattu’, cinephiles across the country eagerly look forward to Lijo Jose Pellissery’s new works. The director who prefers to get his work done without any tall claims has already finished the shoot of his next film. Titled as ‘Churuli’, the film has Joju George, Chemban Vinod Jose and Vinay Forrt in the lead roles.

In a recent interview, Vinay Forrt revealed that entire shoot for ‘Churuli’ was wrapped up in just 19 days. Earlier, Lijo had shot ‘Ee Maa Yau’ in less than 20 days. It is because of his team’s proper planning and extraordinary ability to visualize things that help him to complete shoot in such quick time.

‘Churuli’ has its story written by popular novelist Vinoy Thomas. S Hareesh, who had earlier collaborated with Lijo Jose Pellissery in ‘Jallikkattu’, is penning the adapted screenplay. It is said to be a thriller story with an unique LJP touch to it. Just like how ‘Jallikattu’ was shot, ‘Churuli’ has also been filmed with a lot of secrecy. We hear that vetran Madhu Neelakandan has cranked the camera. More details are awaited.

Special screening of Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham organized for Indian Navy officials!

‘Marakkar Arabikadinte Simham’ is scheduled to hit screens on March 26 but with the threat of Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, chances are high for the release to get pushed. Meanwhile, the makers are planning to organize a special screening of the film on March 19 for the Indian Navy officials. Lead actor and one of the producers of the film, Mohanlal himself revealed this in a recent interview.

According to him, ‘Marakkar’ is basically a patriotic film about how Kunjali Marakkar IV fought against the Portuguese army. Kunjali Marakkars are the hereditary Chiefs of the Navy of the Zamorin of Kozhikode in the 16th century. The Marakkars organised the Malabar seamen to fight the Portuguese in several battles between 1500 and 1600. The honorific title of Kunjali was bestowed by the Zamorin on the Commandants of his Naval force in recognition of their prowess in maritime warfare.

There were four successive Kunjali Marakkars between the period 1500 and 1600 AD. In the film, Mohanlal will be seen playing the lead role of Kunjali Marakkar IV. He is regarded as India’s first naval chieftain. There is separate chapter about Kunjali Marakkars in the Navy and the film will be a tribute to them.

Director Priyadarshan and Ani IV Sasi have scripted the film by infusing both history and fictional elements. It has been made on a whopping budget of about Rs 100 crore with top artists and technicians from across the country associated with it.

After delivering a sleeper hit with ‘Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal’ (KKK), Dulquer Salmaan is all set to start shooting for his next in Tamil. Popular dance choreographer Brinda is making her directorial debut with this film, which is yet to be titled. Kajal Aggarwal and Aditi Rao Hydari have been signed as the female leads. Interestingly, this is the first time the three lead actors are sharing screen space with each other. Their on-screen chemistry will be something exciting to watch out for.

Brinda is one of the most accomplished dance choreographers in Indian cinema. She has worked in over hundred films across various languages with almost all the leading stars in the country. So it will be interesting to see what she brings on table as a filmmaker.

Aruva: Suriya-Hari film to be a mix of Vel and Kadaikutty Singam

Suriya is set to start shooting for ‘Aruva’, his new film with director Hari. It marks the duo’s sixth outing together after collaborating in ‘Vel’, ‘Aaru’ and the three-part ‘Singam’ franchise. KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green is producing the film. In a recent interview, the producer revealed that ‘Aruva’ is a rural mass entertainer that will be high on family emotions.

According to him, ‘Aruva’ will be the typical Hari style film but more subtle when compared to his recent ones. It will be a mix of his own ‘Vel’ and the Karthi starrer ‘Kadaikutty Singam’. Similar to some of the director’s earlier films, ‘Aruva’ will focus on the relationship between family members – this time between brothers.

Rashmika Mandanna is in talks to play the female lead. Details regarding other cast members will be announced shortly. D Imman has been signed as the music director. Shoot is scheduled to begin in April and the film will be hitting screens for this year’s Diwali in November.

‘Marakkar’ is an epic historic film that is is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Vijay Sethupathi to reduce weight for Aamir Khan’s Lal Singh Chaddha

As we already know, Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan is starring in the official remake of classic American film ‘Forrest Gump’. The remake titled as ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ is being directed by Advait Chandan of ‘Secret Superstar’ fame. Veteran actor Atul Kulkarni has scripted the movie. Shoot is progressing at a brisk pace as it is scheduled for Christmas release this year.

Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi will be making his Hindi debut by playing a crucial role in the film. It is widely reported that he will be essaying the role of Benjamin Buford Bubba from ‘Forrest Gump’. It is an army man’s character, so we hear that Vijay Sethupathi is set to shed a few pounds. The actor will be working out hard to reduce weight and look fit for the character. It is a very prominent role and needless to say, it will be interesting to see Aamir and Sethupathi sharing screen space.

‘Forrest Gump’ starring Tom Hanks is a Hollywood classic that got released in 1994. The movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Eric Roth. It won a total of six Academy Awards including best picture, best director, best actor, best adapted screenplay, best visual effects and best film editing. Apparently, the Hindi version, ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ has been adapated to suit the sensibilities of the Indian audience.

Aamir Khan is also producing it jointly with Viacom 18 Motion Productions. The film that has Kareena Kapoor as the female lead is currently being shot across India.

Jakes Bejoy to compose music for Prithviraj-Indrajith starrer Ayalvashi

After ‘Lucifer’, brothers Prithviraj and Indrajith are set to work together for a new film titled ‘Ayalvashi’. It will be directed by debutant Irshad Parari, who was a former associate of Prithviraj. The star himself is producing the film. It will be his banner’s third production venture after the sci-fi thriller ‘9’ and the superhit ‘Driving Licence’.

We hear that ‘Ayalvashi’ is centred around a conflict that exists between two neighbors. According to Prithviraj, though the film falls under the commercial, mainstream category, it is not just another regular potboiler. The makers have signed Jakes Bejoy to handle the music department.

Jakes is currently one of the most wanted music directors in Malayalam with several promising projects in his kitty. He has composed for Prithviraj’s films like ‘Ranam’ and the recently released ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ (AK). Earlier this year, Prithviraj had heaped praise on Jakes for his work in ‘AK’ as he felt that it had one of the most unusual soundtracks for a mainstream Malayalam film. It will now be interesting to see what Jakes comes up with for ‘Aylvashi’.

Shoot for the film is expected to begin in September after Prithviraj wraps up his portions for ‘Aadujeevitham’.

Arjun Ashokan and Anna Ben to star in June writers’ next

After the superhit success of ‘June’, its writers Libin Varghese and Ahammed Khabeer are penning a new script for director Antony Sony Sebastian of ‘C/O Saira Banu’ fame. Arjun Ashokan and Anna Ben have signed to play the lead roles. This is the talented duo’s first film together. Chavara Films is producing the film, which is yet to be titled. Recently, the makers had released a casting call looking for both male and female actors. More details regarding the supporting cast, technical crew and when shoot begins will be revealed in the coming days.

Both the lead actors, Arjun Ashokan and Anna Ben, have carved a niche for themselves within a very short span. They both have some other interesting projects coming up. Arjun has his kitty full with films like ‘Ajagajantharam’, ‘Thuramukham’, ‘Thattassery Koottam’, ‘Member Rameshan 9th Ward’ and an untitled family entertainer with director Girish AD of ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’ fame.

Anna Ben is currently shooting for a heroine-centric film helmed by Ranjan Pramod. Her recently released film ‘Kappela’ is getting decent response in theatres.

Aadujeevitham final schedule to be shot in Jordan, Algeria and Egypt

Two weeks back, Prithviraj had flown out of the country for the final set of preparations of his much-talked about ambitious film, ‘Aadujeevitham’. Shoot is now set to kick-start in Jordan. Though many films are facing issues with shooting abroad due to the Coronovirus outbreak, the makers of ‘Aadujeevitham’ have decided to go ahead with it. The final schedule will happen in different regions in different countries including Algeria, Egypt and a few portions back home in Bangalore.

The Blessy directorial is based on the award winning novel of the same name by Benyamin. The film originally went on floors two years back in March 2018. Due to Prithviraj’s other commitments and the need for him to appear in various looks, shoot happened over multiple schedules. The makers are planning to wrap up the entire shoot by August end.

‘Aadujeevitham’ is the life story of an abused migrant worker, Najeeb Mohammed, who gets stranded in the middle of deserts in Saudi Arabi. For the last three months, Prithviraj has been on a break to reduce weight for the film. He has lost close to 30 kilos to achieve a malnourished look.
