Here’s the third teaser of Tovino’s Edakkad Battalion 06

Unlike the usual teaser followed by trailer pattern, the makers of ‘Edakkad Battalion’ have been following a new style by releasing a series of teasers. After the good response for the first two teasers, the third one has been released online today.

‘Edakkad Battalion 06’ is directed by debutant Swapnesh K Nair and scripted by actor-writer P Balachandran. Shrikant Bhasi, Thomas Joseph Pattathanam and Jayant Mammen are jointly producing the film under the banner of Ruby Films.

‘Edakkad Battalion 06’ has Tovino Thomas playing the lead role of an army officer. As per the makers, it is an entertainer that also has a strong social relevance. It touches upon topics like family relationships and religious brotherhood. Samyuktha Menon, who has earlier starred alongside Tovino in ‘Theevandi’, ‘Uyare’ and ‘Kalki’, plays the heroine in this one as well.

Divya Pillai of ‘Oozham’ fame, P Balachandran, Rekha, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Nirmal Palazhi, Sankar Induchoodan, Salim Kumar,Shalu Rahim, Joy Mathew, Sarasa Balussery and many others are part of the supporting cast.

Vinayan to start working on his next with Mohanlal next year!

Earlier this year, director Vinayan had announced that he would be directing a film with superstar Mohanlal soon. But since there were no updates regarding it even after six months, many presumed it to be dropped. However, the director has confirmed that the project is still very much on and has only been delayed. In a recent Facebook post, Vinayan has made it clear that his film with Mohanlal will be starting by the end of next year.

Vinayan is planning a big scale film with Mohanlal. There are unconfirmed reports about the director planning it as a mythological film, with Mohanlal as Ravanan. Earlier in an interview, Vinayan had opened up about he was always fascinated by the character of Ravanan and his long time wish to make a film that portrays him as the hero. It will be huge if Mohanlal agrees to play the role of Ravanan.

Vinayan is currently working on the release of ‘Aakashaganga 2’. The film is scheduled to hit screens on November. Besides the Mohanlal and another one titled ‘Nangeli’, the director has also committed for a film with Jayasurya.

Siva to work with Rajinikanth before starting Suriya’s film!

Post ‘Viswasam’, Siva has become one of the most wanted filmmakers in Kollywood. He has already signed for a film with Suriya and has also been in talks for a project with superstar Rajinikanth. Suriya’s film got officially announced in April and it was supposed to start rolling by the end of this year. But we now hear that it might get postponed as Rajinikanth’s film is set to go on floors first.

Apparently, Rajinikanth, who had recently finished shooting for his portions for ‘Darbar’, has asked director Siva if he could start their film by early next year. Siva is currently holding talks with Studio Green, the makers of Suriya’s film and an official word is expected to be made soon.

Similar to ‘Viswasam’, Siva’s new film with Rajinikanth will also be a mass-masala entertainer targeted at the family audience. It has been a long while since Rajinikanth has done a rural entertainer, so Siva’s film is most likely to be one.

Mammootty launches Mamangam android game!

The makers of ‘Mamangam’ are going all out in promoting the film. As the release date is closing in, promotions have kick-started in full swing. As a first, an android game based on the film has been released. Mammootty launched the game in the presence of producer Venu Kunnappilly, director M Padmakumar, Anto Joseph, Ram and B Unnikrishnan. The game, designed in the popular ‘Temple Run’ format, is majorly targeted at the youngsters and thereby raise a curiousity about the film.

‘Mamangam’, as per the makers, is a historic film with almost 80% of it being inspired from real events. The film is based on the religious festival, Mamangam, that took place every 12 years in a place called Thirunavaya, on the banks of Bharathapuzha, for over 280 years. Mammootty will be seen playing a ‘chaaver’ in the film. Along with him, the cast also includes Unni Mukundan, Kaniha, Anu Sithara, Prachi Tehlan, Siddique, Sudev Nair, Tarun Arora, Suresh Krishna, Manikuttan, Manikandan, Ineya and Sudheer Sukumaran.

As reported by us recently, Mammootty’s ‘Mamangam’ will be hitting screens on November 21. Expectations are sky-high on the film majorly due to the huge scale at which it is being made. The makers are planning it as the biggest ever release in Kerala. Buzz is that over 400 screens are being charted over the film, which includes the major centres in the state. In that case, a huge opening is definitely on the cards at the Kerala box office.

‘Mamangam’ directed by M Padmakumar is an epic film made on a massive budget. As per the makers, it is a historic film with almost 80% of it being inspired from real events. The film’s original director Sajeev Pillai penned the script after an extensive research of over 12 years. Shankar Ramakrishnan later adapted the screenplay. The film is based on the religious festival, Mamangam, that took place every 12 years in a place called Thirunavaya, on the banks of Bharathapuzha, for over 280 years.

Along with Mammootty, ‘Mamangam’ also stars Unni Mukundan, Kaniha, Anu Sithara, Prachi Tehlan, Siddique, Sudev Nair, Tarun Arora, Suresh Krishna, Manikuttan, Manikandan, Ineya and Sudheer Sukumaran. The film also boasts of a strong technical crew comprising of State award winning cinematographer Manoj Pillai, veteran music director M Jayachandran and art director Mohandas. Bollywood-based composer Sanchit Balhara is handling the background score.

Confirmed: Moothon trailer to be released this Friday

After months of waiting, Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Moothon’ is finally getting ready for its theatrical release. Meanwhile, the makers have announced that the trailer will be out on October 11 (Friday). Nivin’s fans as well as Malayali cinephiles are eagerly waiting for the film’s release.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film recently had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). It received great response at TIFF, which has enhanced the expectations. ‘Moothon’ has also been chosen as the opening film at the 20th edition of Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, which will be held from October 17-24.

‘Moothon’ tells the story of a man called Mullakoya from Lakshadweep. As per the makers, the film presents an unsparing yet inspiring vision of Mumbai through the story of two small-town siblings, each with their own reason for escaping to the big city, in this urgent drama pondering gender, sexuality, violence, and tolerance. Rosshan Mathew, Melissa Raju Thomas, Shashank Arora, Sobhita Dhulipala, Dileesh Pothan are also part of the cast.

‘Moothon’ has its story penned by Geetu while Anurag Kashyap joined her in writing the Hindi dialogues. Anurag is also presenting the film in association with JAR Pictures, Mini Studio and Good Bad Films.

Murali Gopy and Joju George join Mammootty in his next

Mammootty’s new film to be directed by Santhosh Viswanath of ‘Chirakodinka Kinavukal’ fame is getting ready to go on floors next week. Reportedly titled as ‘One’, the film is a political drama scripted by Bobby and Sanjay. It is being produced by Ichais Productions.

‘One’ will have Mammootty playing the role of Kerala Chief Minister. Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Renji Panicker and Sreenivasan were initially reported to be part of the cast. Latest to join the team is Joju George and Murali Gopy. It is said that both of them have been cast in important roles in the film.

This is the first time Bobby and Sanjay are scripting a Mammootty starrer and hence expectations are on the higher side. The scriptwriter duo’s last film, ‘Uyare’ got appreciation from all corners and turned to be a big commercial hit. It will be interesting to see them collaborate with Mammootty, and that too for a political drama, a genre that the star has not attempted in Malayalam for years.

Trance release postponed to summer 2020?

Anwar Rasheed’s ‘Trance’ is one film that the whole of Malayalam movie lovers are eagerly waiting for. The film starring Fahadh Faasil in the lead has been in the making for over two years. Though it was announced that the film be will hitting screens this December, fresh reports suggest that the makers are planning to postpone it for next summer. An official confirmation is still awaited in this regard.

‘Trance’ is a very ambitious film and it is only ideal that the makers are trying to invest more time and get the best possible output rather than releasing it half done. Expectations are already huge thanks to the big names involved in the film. It is director Anwar Rasheed’s comeback feature film after a gap of seven long years. Along with Fahadh, the cast also includes Nazriya Nazim, Soubin Shahir, Chemban Vinod Jose, Vinayakan, Dileesh Pothan, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Arjun Ashokan and Sreenath Bhasi.

‘Trance’ is scripted by debutant Vincent Vadakkan. Amal Neerad is the cinematographer and Jackson Vijayan is in charge of the music department. Academy Award winner Resul Pookutty is handling the sound design. Except for the cast and crew details, nothing much is known about the film, which includes even its genre. This secrecy maintained by the makers has proven successful in raising the audience’s curiosity.

Bigil Telugu version titled as Whistle; Set to be Vijay’s biggest release in Telugu speaking states

Vijay’s ‘Bigil’ is gearing up for release later this month during Diwali and promotions have commenced in full swing. The much awaited trailer will be out on October 12 at 6 PM. Besides the original Tamil version, film also has a Telugu dubbed version which has been titled as ‘Whistle’. Both the versions are expected to release simultaneously. ‘Whistle’ already has huge hype and is getting ready as the biggest ever release for a Vijay starrer in the Telugu-speaking states.

‘Bigil’ directed by Atlee has Vijay playing a dual role. The film is shaping up as a mass entertainer with woman’s football at its crux. Apparently, Vijay essays the roles of a gangster father and a football enthusiast son, who later becomes a coach. Nayanthara is paired with Vijay in the film. Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Yogi Babu, Vivek, Indhuja, Varsha Bollamma, Reba Monica John, Daniel Balaji and Anand Raj are also part of the cast.

Popular digitial streaming platform Netflix have already established themselves in the Hindi circles and are now set to foray into the South. As per latest reports, a four-part anthology film akin to ‘Lust Stories’ is getting ready in Tamil. Directors Vetrimaaran, Vignesh Shivan, Gautham Menon and Sudha Kongara are teaming up for this flick.

Reportedly, honour killing will be the common theme in these four films. Vignesh Shivan is said to have already completed shooting for his part. Anjali and Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin are starring in this segment. More details regarding the project are expected to be officially announced soon.

Vetrimaaran is currently basking in the success of his latest release ‘Asuran’. Hitting screens last Friday, the film has opened to highly positive response allover. Gautham Menon, on the other hand, is still working on the release of his long delayed ‘Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta’. The director is trying hard to release the film within this year itself.

Sudha Kongara meanwhile has wrapped up the shoot of her new film ‘Soorarai Pottru’ that has Suriya in the lead. The film is expected to hit screens in January during the Pongal holidays.
