The stunning trailer of upcoming Bollywood action flick ‘War’ has just been released. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff — two of the best action heroes in Indian cinema, the trailer, as expected, is nothing short of a spectacle. Siddharth Anand is directing the film that promises some riveting action pieces.

From the two-minute long trailer, we can make out that Hrithik’s character Kabir is an ex-commando who has gone rogue. Tiger Shroff plays Khalid, who heads a team to catch Kabir. So it is basically a cat and mouse chase game between these two lead characters. Vaani Kapoor, noted for her roles in movies like ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ and ‘Befikre’ plays the female lead.

Sidharth Anand has previously directed films like ‘Salaam Namaste’, ‘Ta Ra Rum Pum’, ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ and ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’. He has also worked with Hrithik Roshan in the 2014 action film ‘Bang Bang’, which was the official remake of Tom Cruise’s ‘Knight and Day’. So, the director has already proven his ability to helm action films. Hopefully he can live up to the massive expectations that has risen after the coming together of Hrithik and Tiger.

‘War’ is being made on a massive budget by Yash Raj Films. The movie is scheduled for a grand release on October 2, 2019.

As reported by us earlier, director Sachi’s new film ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ has Prithviraj and Biju Menon in the lead roles. Director Ranjith and his friend Sasidharan are jointly producing it under the banner of Gold Coin Motion Picture Company. The movie has Biju Menon as Ayappan Nair, a middle-aged police constable posted in Attapadi and Prithviraj as Koshy Kurian, a havildar who is retired from army after 16 years of service.

‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ deals with the clash between these two titular characters over a small legal issue.
It is about the battle of egos between the two men. As per Sachi, it is his first attempt in making a real mass action flick. The subject has scope for it and hence the makers are opting for a mass treatment. Sachi has worked on the script for over a year.

Full fledged shoot for the movie will be commencing shortly after the two lead actors are free from their other commitments. Sudeep Elamon of ‘Pathinettam Padi’ and ‘Finals’ fame will be handling the cinematograpy and Jakes Bejoy has been signed as the composer.

Just like in the previous years, this time also the Onam season promises to offer a mouthwatering clash at the Kerala box office. Already four films are confirmed to hit screens during the festive season with more expected to be added in the coming days. ‘Brother’s Day’, ‘Ittymaani Made In China’ and ‘Love Action Drama’ are the three biggies that have real potential to emerge as the winner.

The long delayed Nivin Pauly-Nayanthara starrer ‘Love Action Drama’ (LAD) is easily one of the most awaited films of the year. Written and directed by Dhyan Sreenivasan, LAD promises to be a complete entertainer that appeals to a wide range of audience. The movie’s recently released teaser itself was highly promising and gives a clear idea about what to expect from it. Nivin and Nayanthara coming together for the first time is the biggest attraction of the film. Fans as well as common audience have pinned high hopes on LAD, which is expected to hit screens on September 5. Official announcement regarding the release date is yet to be made.

After the record-breaking success of ‘Lucifer’, Mohanlal is back with his next, ‘Ittymaani Made In China’. It is in stark contrast to his previous film as this one is conceived as a fun entertainer that is mainly aimed at the families who visit theatres in large numbers during this holiday season. Mohanlal appears in a dual role in the film, and his fun Chinese character is expected to be the film’s USP. Debutants Jibu and Joju are directing the film and is produced by the superstar’s own banner, Aashirvaad Cinemas. Though a formal announcement is yet to be made, it is reported that ‘Ittymaani’ will be having a grand release on September 6.

‘Brother’s Day’ is the other biggie in the Onam clash that is also eyeing a September 6 release. The movie which marks the directorial debut of Kalabhavan Shajohn has Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role. Aishwarya Lekshmi, Madonna Sebastian, Miya George and Prayaga Martin are the female leads while Tamil actor Prasanna will be seen as the villain. From the promos, it looks like ‘Brother’s Day’ will be a real crowd pleaser. It looks exactly like the kind of entertainer films that a commoner would love to watch.

Besides these films, Rajisha Vijayan’s sports drama ‘Finals’ and Dhanush starrer ‘Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta’ will also be competing at the Onam box office. Both the flicks are confirmed to hit screens on September 6. So, it is certain that we, the audience, are in for a real treat at the cinema halls next month.

Prithviraj’s new film ‘Brother’s Day’ is getting ready for release next month. The movie is scripted and directed by actor Kalabhavan Shajohn. Recently, it’s trailer got released and fetched good response from the viewers online. Following that, the makers have planned to release the first single. Interestingly, Tamil star Dhanush has penned the lyrics and also lent his voice for the song. The track will be out tomorrow (August 27) evening at 5 PM.

‘Brother’s Day’ promises to be a crowd pleaser. The trailer has glimpses of all the necessary commercial elements – be it songs, comedy and fights. Madonna Sebastian, Prayaga Rose Martin, Miya George and Aishwarya Lekshmi play the female leads. Tamil actor Prasanna is making his Malayalam debut by playing the villain role. Dharmajan, Vijayaraghavan, Kottayam Nazeer, Pauly Valsan, Ponnamma Babu, Kochu Preman, Shivaji Guruvayoor and Maala Parvathi are also part of the supporting cast.

From the trailer, it looks exactly like the kind of entertainer films that family audience seek during the Onam holidays. Listin Stephen is producing the movie under the banner of Magic Frames. Release date is expected to be officially announced shortly.

Jayaram confirms starring in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan

Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam has been working on the pre-production of his dream project ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ for quite a long time now. The director’s own banner Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions are collaborating for this mega budget film’s production. Along with top actors from Tamil cinema, the film will also have several stars from other languages.

In an exclusive interview with Onlookers Media, Malayali actor Jayaram confirmed that he will be acting in ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. Though he refused to divulge more details about his character, we learn that he is playing a very crucial role in it. Although Jayaram has been active in Tamil cinema since long, this is his first film with Mani Ratnam and he could not have asked for a better project.

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is actually a historical Tamil novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. In five volumes, or about 2400 pages, it tells the story of early days of Arulmozhivarman, who later became the great Chola emperor Raja Raja Chola I. Mani Ratnam is working on its screenplay adaptation with writers Siva Anand and Kumaravel.

Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Keerthy Suresh, Amala Paul and Sathyaraj are some of the names doing the rounds. An official announcement with full details is expected to be made very soon.

Geetu Mohandas’ next after Moothon is a gangster flick

Geetu Mohandas’ long awaited sophomore directorial, ‘Moothon’, which is also her maiden Malayalam film, is set to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). This year’s festival is scheduled to be held from September 5-15. ‘Moothon’ has also been chosen as the opening film at the 20th edition of Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, which will be held from October 17-24.

While preparations for the festival screenings are underway, it is also learnt that Geetu is planning to helm a gangster film next. The director herself revealed this in a recent interview. Apparently, the actress-turned-filmmaker has already finished scripting for the film. More details regarding the same are expected to be formally announced after the theatrical release of ‘Moothon’.

Geetu Mohandas’ directorial debut ‘Liar’s Dice’, which got released in 2014, was a critically acclaimed one that was also screened at several international film festivals. It was also India’s official entry at the 87th Academy Awards. It will be interesting to see what Geetu is attempting next.

The teaser of ‘Love Action Drama’ (LAD) is getting stunning response from all corners. Within two days time, the teaser has fetched over two million views. The teaser is every bit as expected with all the vibes of a wholesome entertainer. Nivin Pauly, after a series of duds, finally seems to be in his comfort zone. The actor’s antics and screen presence reminds of his popular characters in ‘Oru Vadakkan Selfie’ and ‘Premam’. And with Nayanthara as the female lead, the duo look great on screen.

LAD marks the directorial debut of Dhyan Sreenivasan. Dhyan has scripted it as a clean rom-com entertainer. Nivin and Nayanthara are coming together for the first time and that is one of the major attractions of the movie. It has a big supporting cast that includes Aju Varghese, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Dhanya Balakrishnan, Vismaya, Sreenivasan, Renji Panicker, Mallika Sukumaran, Motta Rajendran, Maya Menon, Basil Joseph and Durga Krishna among others.

The movie has cinematography by Jomon T John and Roby Varghese Raj. Music is composed by Shaan Rahman and edits are done by Vivek Harshan. Aju Varghese and Vishak Subramaniam are jointly producing ‘LAD’ under the banner of Funtastic Films. It is scheduled to hit screens in September during Onam.

Kalidas Jayaram has been working with some of the biggest names in the industry. In a brief acting career, he has already worked with directors like Sathyan Anthikad and Malayil (as child artist), Abrid Shine, Jeethu Joseph and Santosh Sivan. He is now set to team up with award-winning filmmaker Jayaraj. Kalidas’ father, actor Jayaram revealed this during an exclusive chat with Onlookers Media.

Jayaram sees it as a great blessing for his son to work with a veteran like Jayaraj at such an early stage of his career. Jayaram has worked with the director multiple times. Some of their films include ‘Aanachandam’, ‘Sneham’, ‘Paithrukam’, ‘Naayika’ and ‘Millennium Stars’.

Details about Jayaraj’s film with Kalidas are not yet known. Of late, the director has been successfully doing festival-centric films. So it will be interesting to see if he makes a similar one with Kalidas or rather opt for a more commercially viable mainstream film.

Kalidas currently has ‘Happy Sardar’ gearing up for release. The movie helmed by writer-director couple Sudip Joshy and Geethika Sudip has the actor playing a Punjabi’s role. Besides that, he has the Santosh Sivan directorial ‘Jack and Jill’ getting ready.

Gautham Menon’s Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta (ENPT) has seen multiple postponing over the last two years owing to production issues. Finally, the makers have resolved all that and have announced September 6 as the release date. A new trailer has also been released online. The 2-minute long trailer suggests that it’s a romantic thriller with some evident shades of the director’s earlier films.

ENPT has Dhanush and Megha Akash in the lead roles. Actor-director Sasikumar is playing a brief but crucial role as Dhanush’s brother. The movie also has ‘Baahubali’ star Rana Daggubatti and Sunaina in cameo roles. ENPT has high expectations, all credits for which should go to the hype created by its chartbuster songs composed by Darbuka Siva. A couple of tracks from the movie – ‘Maruvaarthai’ and ‘Visiri’ – have turned out to be sensational hits.

If things turn out as per plans, ENPT will be hitting screens worldwide on the right date and it might also be the much needed comeback for Gautham Menon, who has been through a rough patch for quite some time.
