Karikku team announces Thera Para movie!

Team ‘Karikku’ comprising a bunch of youngsters is a household name in Kerala. Their 20-episode maiden web series ‘Thera Pera’ was a huge hit and the countless mini videos that they release at regular intervals have earned them a huge fan following. The team is now set to take the next big step as they enter the world of cinema.

‘Karikku team’ has announced ‘Thera Para Movie’ by releasing a motion poster through their official YouTube channel. The poster features a masked guy in a road at night time. It has a mystery thriller setting but considering the team’s track record, it may well turn out to be a fun flick. All the major actors from the team including Sabareesh Sajjin, Anu K. Aniyan, Anand Mathews, Binoy John, Jeevan Mammen Stephen, Kiran Viyyath, Unni Mathews, and Arjun Ratan are expected to be part of the movie.

‘Thera Para’ is being written and directed by Nikhil Prasad. Sunil Karthikeyan is the cinematographer and music department will be handled by PS Jayahari of ‘Athiran’ fame. More details regarding the actual genre and when shoot begins are expected to be officially announced shortly.

Kaatum: Check out this new song from Luca

As Tovino Thomas’ ‘Luca’ continues to do well in theatres, the makers have released a new song online. The track titled ‘Kaatum’ is composed and rendered by Sooraj S Kurup. Vinayak Sasikumar has penned the lyrics. The movie directed by debutant Arun Bose is an investigative thriller that has a romantic story at its heart.

Director Arun has scripted the movie jointly with another newcomer, Mridul George. Tovino and Ahanaa Krishna play the lead pair in the movie and it is their sparkling chemistry that’s been much talked about. Nithin George has also essayed a major role as a police officer.

The movie also stars Vineetha Koshy, Thalaivasal Vijay, Jaffer Idukki, Neena Kurup, Chembil Ashokan, Anwar Shereef, Pauly Valsan and Devi Ajith in other supporting roles. Linto Thomas and Prince Hussain are jointly producing ‘Luca’ under the banner of Stories and Thoughts Productions.

Anuraga Kilivathil: Here’s a new song from Dileep’s Shubharathri

‘Shubharathri’ hit screens last day (July 6) and has opened to good response from the audience. The movie starring Dileep and Siddique in the lead roles is written and directed by Vyasan KP. Abraham Mathew of Abaam Movies has produced the movie.

Earlier in the day, the makers released a new song online. The track titled ‘Anuraga Kilivathil’ is composed by Bijibal. It is a romantic song rendered by Harishankar and Sangeetha Srikanth. BK Harinarayanan has written the lyrics. Dileep and Anu Sithara feature in the video.

‘Shubharathri’ is centered around Mohammed (Siddique), a do-gooder Muslim man who is getting ready for Hajj piligramage. The day before his journey, he encounters an unexpected situation through which Krishnan (Dileep) comes into his life. The movie, as publicised by the makers, is based on real life events.

Anu Sithara is paired with Dileep in the movie, while Shanthi Krishna plays Siddique’s wife. Asha Sarath, Sheelu Abraham, Nadirshah, Indrans, Aju Varghese, Nedumudi Venu, Sai Kumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu Prashanth Alexander, Swasika, Ashokan, Hareesh Peradi, Sudhi Koppa, Manikandan Achari, Vijay Babu, KPAC Lalitha, Thesni Khan and many others are part of the cast.

Debutant Sarath Menon, a former associate of Lijo Jose Pellissery, is directing this film. He has assisted Lijo in movies like ‘Angamaly Diaries’ and ‘Ee.Ma.Yau’. ‘Veyil’ also stars Suraj Venjaramoodu and Shine Tom Chacko in major roles. The movie has been predominantly shot in and around Irinjalakuda. A bunch of newcomers are also introduced with this movie.

In the technical front, popular Tamil playback singer Pradeep Kumar is composing the music and camera is cranked by Shaz Mohammed. Praveen Prabhakar is the editor. ‘Veyil’ is produced by Joby George under the banner of Goodwill Entertainments.

The Ramesh Pisharody’s directorial is touted to be a fun filled entertainer that Mammootty in the role of a ‘ganamela’ singer named Kaladasan Ullas. Pisharody and Hari Nair have jointly scripted the movie. It is being produced jointly by Ichais Productions and Ramesh Pisharody Entertainments.

The makers have signed debutante Vanditha Manoharan as the female lead. The movie also has a big supporting cast which includes Mukesh, Manoj K Jayan, Suresh Krishna, Abu Salim, Salim Kumar, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Hareesh Kanaran, Ashokan, Innocent and Maniyanpilla Raju among others. Veteran cinematographer Azhagappan, music director Deepak Dev and editor Lijo Paul form the core technical crew.

‘Ganagandharvan’ has been planned to hit screens during Onam in September. Considering the movie’s genre, it is the ideal time for release as the audience, comprising largely of families, would be seeking to watch fun entertainers during the holiday season.

‘LAD’ is said to be a modern day take on the yesteryear hit film ‘Vadakkunokkiyanthram’, directed by his father Sreenivasan. As a tribute to that film, the lead characters in ‘LAD’ are also named as Dineshan and Shobha. Aju Varghese, Dhanya Balakrishnan, Vismaya, Maya Menon and Durga Krishna are also part of the supporting cast.

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s sensational hit film ‘Angamaly Diaries’ introduced around 65 new faces and several among them are now making a mark in the industry. Lead actor Antony Varghese currently has multiple projects in his kitty. Interestingly, two of the major actors in the film, Vineeth Vishwam and Kichu Tellus, who played the roles of Bheeman and Pork Varkey respectively, are turning scriptwriters.

Antony Varghese revealed this bit of information during a casual chat with Malayala Manorama. The duo of Vineeth and Kichu is penning a new film that will make the reunion of the whole ‘Angamaly Diaries’ team. It will be directed by Tinu Pappachan of ‘Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil’ fame. Details regarding its genre or when shoot commences are expected to be officially announced shortly.

Antony Varghese currently has some other projects in the pipeline. His next release will be ‘Jallikattu’, which is helmed by his mentor Lijo Jose Pellissery. Antony has been signed as the lead in director Jude Anthany Joseph’s maiden production venture. Nithish Sahadev, a former associate of Jude, is making his directorial debut with this movie.

Another film getting ready for Antony is a football based one directed by debutant Nikhil Premraj. It will be produced under the banner of Achappu Movie Magic. The actor has also committed for another project with Tinu Pappachan. We hear it is a highly ambitious flick and it will take time to start rolling.

After the stunning teaser that became viral nationwide, the trailer of Amala Paul’s upcoming Tamil film ‘Aadai’ has been released online. Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap released the trailer through his social media handle. The movie is written and directed by Rathnakumar of ‘Meyaadha Maan’ fame.

‘Aadai’ which translates to ‘dress’ is apparently about a daring and audacious young woman named Kamini, who at one point gets trapped half naked in a building that surrounded by police force. Going by the promos itself, one can easily say that Amala Paul has taken a very bold step and it promises to pay off.

Interestingly, director Rathnakumar’s debut film, ‘Meyaadha Maan’ was a completely contrasting film. It was a fun-filled rom-com starring Vaibhav Reddy, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Induja and Vivek Prasanna in the leads. With ‘Aadai’ it seems like the director is trying a genre that’s very rarely seen in Tamil industry.

The movie has music composed by popular playback singer Pradeep Kumar and the Oorka band of ‘Thedadhey’ fame. Vijay Kartik Kannan has cranked the camera and edits are handled by Shafique Mohamed Ali. Viji Subramanian has produced the movie under the banner of V Studios. It is scheduled for release on July 19.

From the posters, we presume that the film is about a stand-up comedienne. It is a subject that is new to the Malayali audience as stand up shows are not yet popular in Kerala, as it is in North India or when compared to other Southern cities like Chennai or Bangalore.

‘Stand Up’ is scripted by Umesh Omanakuttan. It has a lesser known technical crew comprising of cinematographer Tobin Thomas, music director Varkey and editor Christy Sebastian.
