Check out this new sneak peak video of Luca

After ‘Virus’ and ‘And The Oskar Goes To’, Tovino Thomas is set to have his third release of the month. ‘Luca’ directed by debutant Arun Bose is slated to hit screens tomorrow. The movie touted to be a romantic thriller has Ahanaa Krishna paired with Tovino. A new sneak peak video featuring the lead pair has just been released online. The two seem to share great chemistry on-screen, which was evident from the earlier released songs as well.

Director Arun has scripted ‘Luca’ jointly with another newcomer, Mridul George. Though romance is part of it, the movie is primarily an investigative thriller. Tovino plays a scrap artist while Ahaana plays his pair, Nihaarika. Nithin George, Vineetha Koshy, Thalaivasal Vijay, Jaffer Idukki, Neena Kurup, Chembil Ashokan, Pauly Valsan and Devi Ajith will be seen in other prominent roles in the movie.

Linto Thomas and Prince Hussain are jointly producing ‘Luca’ under the banner of Stories and Thoughts Productions. The movie is slated to hit screens on Friday.

Vicky Kaushal is one of the most wanted stars in Bollywood right now. The huge success of ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ has made him a popular face across the country. He is currently shooting for Shoojit Sircar’s new film which is based on Sardar Udham Singh, a pre-Independence revolutionary. The actor has now signed yet another biopic.

Meghna Gulzar is directing the movie which is based on India’s first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. The first look was released today on his death anniversary. Vicky Kaushal looks stunning in the photo with a thick bushy moustache. Taking to his social media handle, the actor has written,

Meghna Gulzar is well known for directing ‘Talvar’ and ‘Raazi’, both of which were critically and commercially acclaimed. She has worked previously with Vicky in ‘Raazi’, so much is expected from this combo. The Sam Manekshaw biopic is scripted by Bhavani Iyer of ‘Raazi’ fame and ‘Badhaai Ho’ co-scenarist Shanthanu Srivastava.

Mammootty to reunite with National award winner Salim Ahamed

Salim Ahamed is one of the most revered filmmakers in Malayalam at present. Though he is just four-film old, he is well known among non-Malayali cinephiles as well. All of his films have been highly acclaimed with his directorial debut ‘Adaminte Makan Abu’ winning numerous accolades. It was chosen as India’s official entry to be considered for nomination in the Best Foreign Film category for the 84th Academy Awards.

Salim Ahamed’s latest film ‘And The Oskar Goes To’, which hit screens last Friday (June 22), is currently doing well in theatres. The Tovino Thomas starrer which is loosely based on the director’s own experiences of taking his film to the Oscars has been well received by the critics. It is expected to have a good run at the box office.

Meanwhile, we hear that the director’s next film will be with Mammootty. The actor-director duo has previously worked together in ‘Kunjananthante Kada’ and ‘Pathemari’. Both the films were critically acclaimed, with the latter enjoying a 100-day run in theatres. It won the National award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam in 2015.

When Mammootty and Salim Ahamed reunite, Malayali audience will be hoping to see another quality film that also has space for the megastar to showcase his amazing acting prowess. An official word regarding their new project is still awaited.

Amala Paul releases a statement about being thrown out of Vijay Sethupathi’s film; Slams producer for false allegations!

As reported by us recently, Amala Paul was supposed to act with Vijay Sethupathi in a music based film directed by debutant Venkata Krishna Roghanth. However, the actress was ousted from the project rather unceremoniously and got replaced by Megha Akash. Producer of Rathienavelu Kumar of Chandaraa arts had accused Amala of not being production-friendly and informed that she has been dropped as they couldn’t meet her demands.

However, Amala Paul has now come out with a detailed statement stating her side of things. It has been mentioned that the makers never discussed with her before removing from the project. Also the actress has slammed the producer for making false allegations about her. She makes it clear that she has always been someone with a ‘give-it-all attitude’ and always strived to make quality films even if it meant compromising her needs. She reveales that she has been thrown out of the project for the demand of a proper accommodation in Ooty during the movie’s shoot.

In her statement, Amala has quoted instances from her career that are contrasting to the accusations that she’s not a producer friendly actress. She also believes the release of Aadai teaser is another reason for her being dropped from the project. Amala has also added that she is a huge fan of Vijay Sethupathi and is eagerly looking forward to work with him soon.

‘Kakshi Amminippilla’ is all set to hit screens tomorrow (June 28). Usually very few Malayalam films have a worldwide release and this Asif Ali starrer is one such. Along with the home state Kerala and major RoI centres, it is releasing in UAE and GCC region. It is releasing in Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Qatar, Al Ain, Fujairah, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Oman, Kuwait and Baharain. The movie is released by Indywood Distribution Network (IDN) and NR Films.

‘Kakshi Amminippilla’ directed by debutant Dinjith Ayyathan and scripted by Sanilesh Shivan is basically a court-room drama. It is centred around the case of newly wed couple, Shajith Kumar Amminippilla and wife Kanthi Sivadasan. Asif Ali plays the role of advocate Pradeepan Manjodi, a political aspirant who is initially reluctant but later takes up the divorce case.

Release date confirmed for Dhyan Sreenivasan’s Sachin

Dhyan Sreenivasan’s long delayed ‘Sachin’ is finally getting ready for release. The movie is confirmed to hit screens on July 12. Last day, the movie was censored with a clean U. It has a run time of just over 2 hours. Santhosh Nair of ‘Money Ratnam’ is directing this movie. It is scripted by SL Puram Jayasurya, who has previously directed movies like ‘Angel John’ and ‘Speed Track’.

Sachin is a romantic-comedy entertainer that has cricket as the backdrop. Anna Reshma Rajan of ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame is the female lead. Aju Varghese, Ramesh Pisharody Dharmajan Bolgatty, Renji Panicker, Hareesh Kanaran, Appani Sarath Kumar and Maniyanpilla Raju are also part of the movie’s supporting cast.

Neil D’Cunha is the DOP and veteran Ranjan Abraham is the editor. Manu Manjith has penned the lyrics and Shaan Rahman handles the music department. The movie is being produced by Jude Agnel Sudhir and Juby Ninan under the banner of JJ Productions.

As reported by us recently, Vineeth Sreenivasan is starring in a new film directed by Girish AD, who was one of the scriptwriters of ‘Allu Ramendran’. Titled as ‘Thaneermathan Dhinangal’, the movie is produced jointly by popular cinematographer Jomon T John, editor Shameer Muhammed and Shebin Backer under the banners of Plain J Studios and Shebin Backer Productions.

Director Girish AD is noted in the short film circle for his films like ‘Vishuddha Ambrossey’ and ‘Mookuthi’. He has scripted ‘Thaneermathan Dhinangal’ jointly with another debutant, Dinoy Paulose. Vineeth Sreenivasan is said to be playing the role of a school teacher in the movie, which is touted to be a feel-good flick.

Director Selvaraghavan’s much hyped ‘NGK’ starring Suriya failed to live up to the expectations, much to the disappointment of the fans as well as serious cinephiles. The director, who is considered as one of the most talented in Tamil industry, tried a political drama with ‘NGK’, but could not reap the desired results.

It is now learnt that his next film will have his brother Dhanush in the lead. The duo has previously worked together in ‘Kaadhal Kondein’, ‘Pudhupettai’, and ‘Mayakkam Enna’. Selva has also penned the scripts for Dhanush’s ‘Thulluvadho Ilamai’ and ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’. Dhanush has often credited his brother for transforming him as an actor and being the biggest influence in his career. When the brothers reunite, expectations will be huge.

In a recent interview, Dhanush himself revealed about teaming up with Selva but an official word is yet to be made. The actor is currently shooting for ‘Asuran’. He will be next joining the sets of Durai Senthil Kumar’s film, which is in the hallway stage. ‘Vada Chennai 2’ with Vetrimaaran and couple of other projects with ‘Ratchasan’ fame Ram Kumar and ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ fame Maari Selvaraj are the other projects in his kitty.

Dhanush’s second directorial, which is a big-budget multi-starrer flick, is also in the pipeline.

Multi-starrer Pathinettam Padi gears up for release

Actor-writer Shanker Ramakrishnan’s directorial debut ‘Pathinettam Padi’ has high expectations among a section of audience as it has some big star presence. Though the lead roles are essayed by newcomers, the cast also includes stars like Mammootty, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Unni Mukundan and Arya.

‘Pathinettam Padi’ is said to be a story about the rivalry between a bunch of teenagers from two different schools. Megastar Mammootty plays an extended cameo in the movie. His character named John Abraham Palackal is a very prominent one and basically takes the story forward. The actor sports an extremely stylish look with a pony tail hairstyle. Prithviraj, Arya and Unni Mukundan will be seen in guest appearances in the movie.

Apart from 66 newcomers, the elaborate cast also comprises of noted actors like Priya Mani, Manoj K Jayan, Ahaana Krishna, Maniyanpilla Raju, Maala Parvathy, Biju Sopanam, Suraj Venjaramoodu and others. Shaji Nadesan is producing the movie under the banner of August Cinema. It is scheduled to hit screens on July 5, Friday.
