Mammootty joins Maamaankam team

After a long gap, Mammootty has resumed shooting for ‘Maamaankam’. The actor has reportedly given around 60 more days from his packed schedule for this movie. The movie went on floors in mid-2018. But shoot got stalled halfway after the team was hit by a few controversies which included the unceremonious ousting of its original director Sajeev Pillai. M Padmakumar is helming the film now with a new set of actors and technicians.

‘Maamaankam’ is based on the medieval fair, Maamaankam, where brave warriors from various regions would come together to showcase their skills at combat. Mammootty plays the lead role of a fiery ‘Chaaver’ (warrior). The movie revolves around the life of these warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers.

Unni Mukundan essays a prominent role in the movie. Kaniha and Anu Sithara play the two female leads. Others in the cast include Siddique, Abu Salim, Sudheer Sukumaran and a few non-Malayalo actors. Venu Kunnappilly is producing the movie under the banner of Kavya Films. The makers are planning to release the movie by this year itself.

‘Super Deluxe’ is all set to storm screens from this Friday (March 29). Thiagarajan Kumararaja has directed the movie which stars Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha, Ramya Krishnan and Mysskin in the lead roles. Last day, a new promo video from the movie was released. It is an unusually edited song bit. Malayali filmmaker Alphonse Puthren has edited the video.

‘Super Deluxe’ is eagerly awaited by passionate cinephiles across the country. Director Thiagarajan Kumararaja is making a comeback 8 years after he made his debut with the cult-hit ‘Aaranya Kaandam’. This new movie also has some of the finest talents of South Indian cinema working in it.

Mysskin, Nalan Kumarasamy, Neelan K Sekar and Thiagarajan Kumararaja have jointly penned the screenplay. PS Vinod and Nirav Shah have cranked the camera.Music department is handled by Yuvan Shankar Raja. United Global Media is releasing the movie in Kerala.

Suriya starrer ‘NGK’ is currently in the post-production phase. The makers have finally announced the much awaited release date. The movie will be hitting screens worldwide on May 31. Suriya has already started dubbing for movie. Meanwhile, the audio will be coming out soon. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the songs.

‘NGK’ directed by Selvaraghavan is touted to be a political thriller. The movie has high expectations as it is the director’s first film with Suriya. Nothing much is known about the movie which has also piqued the curiosity. Even the trailer was brilliantly cut by revealing only very little about the plot.The movie promises to bring back the long lost performer in Suriya. Meghna Gulzar’s new film ‘Chhapaak’ starts rolling today (March 25). Starring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey in the lead, this film is the story of an acid attack survivor. It is based on the life of acid attack survivor and social activist Laxmi Agarwal. Deepika’s stunning new look in the movie got revealed today through social medias. The actress looks nearly unrecognizable in the photo.

Deepika plays a character named Malti, who fights all odds and never gives up despite facing numerous obstacles in her path. Revealing the first look, director Meghna has written in her social media handle,

With just two more days left for the release of ‘Lucifer’, buzz around the movie is reaching new heights. The makers are going all out to promote the movie and ensure it reaches out to more people. Mohanlal, director Prithviraj and Manju Warrier have been actively promoting the movie via social medias as well as through interviews and various other events.

Mohanlal, who normally presents a modest picture, seems extremely confident with ‘Lucifer’. It is evident from his talks in the interviews. In a recent chat show, the veteran went on to say that ‘Lucifer’ is probably the best film that he has done so far in his career. Such words coming from a legend who has seen all the ups and downs in a 40-year-long career shows the high hopes he has pinned on the movie.

After shooting for over 100 days, ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ has finally come to an end. The last schedule was held near Kovalam beach in Trivandrum. The makers have shared various stills from the location informing the completion of shoot. This Priyadarshan directorial is claimed to be the most expensive movie ever in Malayalam.

The period flick based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar has actors from various industries from across the country as part of its cast. Apart from lead actor Mohanlal, the cast comprises of his son Pranav, Suniel Shetty, Arjun Sarja, Keerthy Suresh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Prabhu, Mukesh, Siddique, Ashok Selvan, Manju Warrier, Baburaj, Nedumudi Venu, Hareesh Perady, Nandu, Innocent, Ganesh Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Santhosh Keezhattoor and many others.

‘Marakkar’ is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 100 crores. Mohanlal’s Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are jointly producing the movie. Apart from the star studded cast,the movie also has some big james in the technical crew. National award winner Tirru cranks the camera and Sabu Cyril is in charge of the production design. A Los Angeles based company is handling the VFX works.

A year long post-production works have been planned by the makers.

Asif Ali Ali currently has some interesting projects in his kitty. He had recently signed for a new film with director Sugeeth, with whom he had previously worked in ‘Ordinary’. The movie titled as ‘Parannu Parannu’ is getting ready to go on floors. As per latest reports, the makers have roped in Amala Paul to play the female lead. Asif and Amala have earlier shared screen space in ‘Ithu Nammude Katha’ but they were not paired in it.

‘Parannu Parannu’ is produced by Ajeesh OK under the banner of Dream Walk Productions. Debutant Jojan Abraham has scripted the movie. Vivek Menon is the cinematographer and music department will be handled by Vikam Subramanya.

Asif Ali has is currently shooting for Arun Kumar Aravind’s ‘Underworld’, also starring Farhaan Faasil, Jean Paul Lal and Samyuktha Menon. Asif’s next release will be ‘Mera Naam Shaji’, scheduled for April 5. ‘OP 160/18 Kakshi: Amminippilla’, ‘Uyare’ and ‘Virus’ are his other upcoming films.

Amala Paul was last seen in Malayalam in ‘Achayans’. She is also playing the female lead in the highly anticipated Prithviraj starrer ‘Aadujeevitham’.

As reported by us earlier, Lal Jose is directing a new film titled ‘Nalpathiyonnu’ Biju Menon and Nimisha Sajayan play the lead roles in it. The movie’s title poster was shared today in social medias. Prageesh PG, a former journalist, is scripting the movie, which is reportedly set in the backdrop of the socio-politcal issues in Kannur.

Director Lal Jose has been going through a rough patch with his last few films failing to impress the audience. ‘Nalpathiyonnu’ looks promising and the Malayali audience will hoping to see a strong comeback from the veteran director.

This is the first time Biju Menon and Nimisha are coming together for a film, so it will be interesting to see them share screen space. Suresh Krishna and Indrans have also been roped in to play major roles.A few theatre artists and newcomers will also be seen essaying prominent roles in the movie. In the technical side, S Kumar will be cranking the camera and edits will be by Ranjan Abraham. Bijibal handles the music department.
