‘Queen’ fame Saniya Iyappan plays Manju Warrier’s daughter in Lucifer

Prithviraj’s directorial debut ‘Lucifer’, starring superstar Mohanlal in the lead, is one of the most awaited Malayalam films in recent years. The movie is currently in the post production stage with the actors having started dubbing for their portions. Promotions will soon commence in full swing as the movie is scheduled to hit screens by the end of March.

Scripted by Murali Gopy, ‘Lucifer’ is touted to be a mass-packed political entertainer. Mohanlal plays a big shot politician, Stephen Nedumbally in the movie. Along with him, there are some other stars as well like Tovino Thomas, Vivek Oberoi, Indrajith Sukumaran and Manju Warrier.

Saniya Iyyappan who shot to fame with her debut film ‘Queen’ is also playing a crucial role in the movie. She will be appearing as Manju Warrier’s daughter. This is the teenager’s first film with such a star studded team, so she will be hoping that the movie provides her a big career break.

‘Lucifer’ also has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of Kalabhavan Shajohn, Sai Kumar, Nandu, John Vijay, director Fazil, Sunil Sughatha, Thara Kalyan, Praveena Thomas and Maala Parvathy. The movie’s core technical crew includes cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev, editor Samjith Mohammed and music director Deepak Dev.

‘Lucifer’ is being produced by Mohanlal’s own banner Aashirvad Cinemas. Official word regarding the release date is expected to be made shortly.

If reports are to be believed, stage is getting ready for a big box office clash this Independence Day. Prabhas starrer ‘Saaho’ has already been announced as an August 15 release. Latest to join the race is ‘Kaappaan’ starring Suriya and Mohanlal in the leads. Both the films have massive expectations among the audience, so it will be interesting to see which of the two emerges on top.

‘Saaho’ is Prabhas’ first release outside the ‘Baahubali’ franchise in nearly five years. The movie directed by Sujeeth is a high octane action thriller made on a huge budget of around 300 crores. It is being made as a multilingual in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi with popular actors from industries across the country. Bollywood diva Shraddha Kapoor is playing the female lead. Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Mandira Bedi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay, Lal and Tinnu Anand are playing prominent roles in the movie.

‘Kaappaan’ is also a big budget action flick that has a star studded cast. The movie has Mohanlal playing the Indian Prime Minister’s role while Suriya will be seen as a high-rank National Security Guard (NSG) officer, who is in charge of the PM’s security. Arya, Boman Irani, Sayyeshaa and Samuthirakani are also part of the cast. Shoot is currently progressing at a brisk pace and the makers are working towards an Independence Day release. Given the movie’s patriotic nature, trade experts believe that it will be an ideal slot.

After working together for over six months, the team of Madura Raja called it a wrap last day. The movie directed by Vysakh has megastar Mammootty reprising his character from the 2010 blockbuster film, ‘Pokkiri Raja’. Udhayakrishna, who wrote the original along with Sibi K Thomas, has scripted this one independently. Mammootty is back as the Madurai based lovable don who speaks in a funny English accent. The character has a big following among the kids.

‘Madura Raja’ is getting ready amidst massive expectations as Vysakh-Udhayakrishna team’s last film ‘Pulimurugan’ emerged as a record breaking blockbuster. The duo will be hoping to repeat the success this time as well. Almost the same technical team from ‘Pulimurugan’ has been retained in ‘Madura Raja’ as well, which includes cinematographer Shaji Kumar, music director Gopi Sunder, action choreographer Peter Hein and editor Johnkutty.

‘Madura Raja’ also has an elaborate star cast comprising of three female leads in Shamna Kasim, Anna Reshma and Mahima Nambiar. Sunny Leone has also performed a special dance number in the movie along with Mammootty. Tamil actor Jai is making his Malayalam debut by playing a prominent role in the movie. Jagapathi Babu will be seen as the villain.

‘Madura Raja’ is produced by Nelson Ipe. The movie is slated for a grand Vishu release in April.

The movie directed by Vysakh is actually a spin-off on Mammootty’s character from his 2010 blockbuster film, ‘Pokkiri Raja’. We had recently reported about Jayasurya lending his voice for a track in the upcoming Guinness Pakru starrer ‘Ilayaraja’. The teaser of the song has been released online. Ratheesh Vega has composed the peppy track, lyrics for which is penned by Santhosh Varma. Though Jayasurya has previously sung in films, this is the first first time he is singing for another actor’s film.

‘Ilayaraja’ is directed by Madhav Ramdasan, who has helmed acclaimed films like ‘Apothecary’ and ‘Melvilasom’. This upcoming movie has Pakru playing the lead role of Vanajan while Gokul Suresh appears in a cameo role as Bryan. Madhav Ramadan has has penned the movie’s story while screenplay and dialogues are penned by Sudeep T George.

Deepak Parambol, Harisree Ashokan, Kavitha Nair, Anil Nedumangad, Baby Ardra, Master Adhithyan, Jayaraj Warrier, Alphy Panjikaran, Binish Babu and many others are part of the supporting cast. In the technical front, Pappinu cranks the camera and Ratheesh Vegha handles the music department. Sreenivasa Krishna is the editor.

Fresh from the superhit success of ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’, Asif Ali Ali has been bagging some interesting projects. The latest we hear is that he has signed for a new film with director Sugeeth, with whom he has previously worked in ‘Ordinary’. Dream Productions is producing the movie, the first look poster of which will be released today evening at 7 PM in social medias.

Besides this Sugeeth project, Asif Ali has six other films coming up. His next release will be ‘OP 160/18 Kakshi: Amminippilla’, in which he plays the role of an advocate for the first time in his career. The movie directed by debutant Dinjith Ayyathan is scheduled for release in April. Asif is also part of a few multi-starrers like ‘Uyare’, ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ and Aashiq Abu’s ‘Virus’.

Arun Kumar Aravind’s ‘Underworld’ is another promising film in Asif Ali’s kitty. The actor will soon be hitting the gym to develop his physique as his character in the movie demands it. Asif is also in talks with National award winning filmmaker Siddhartha Siva for a new film. Stay tuned.

Shoot for Jayaram’s upcoming movie ‘Grand Father’ is currently in the final stages. The movie directed by Aneesh Anwar and scripted by Shani Kader is touted to be a fun entertainer. ‘Grand Father’ already has an elaborate cast and the latest to join the team is Unni Mukundan. Unni will be appearing in a crucial cameo role in the movie. A fight scene involving him Baburaj and ‘Chalakkudikkaran Changathi’ fame Senthil Krishna remains to be shot, with which it will be a pack up for the movie.

Director Aneesh Anwar is noted for his films ‘Kumbasaram’ and ‘Zachariyayude Garbhininkal’. For ‘Grand Father’, he has assembled an big cast. ‘Oozham’ fame Divya Pillai and ‘Kuttanadan Marpapa’ fame Surabhi Santhosh play the female leads. Soubin Shahir, Baiju, Vijayaraghavan, Sharafudheen, Dharmajan, Dileesh Pothan, Sajan Palluruthy, Asha Aravind, Johny Antony, Hareesh Kanaran, Jaffer Idukki and Mallika Sukumaran are part of the supporting cast.

‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ shoot is currently progressing at Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad. Directed by Priyadarshan, the movie has Mohanlal playing the role of Kunjali Marakkar. The movie is based on the life of the fourth Marakkar. Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief of Zamorin of Calicut in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army.

Mohanlal is putting in his best of efforts for the movie as he plays a very challenging character. The movie has a lot of action sequences and since Mohanlal plays a naval commander, he needs to look fit and agile. A few photos of him sweating it out at the gym have surfaced online.

Along with Mohanlal, Marakkar also has some other stars like Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Arjun Sarja, Ashok Selvan, Keerthy Suresh, Suniel Shetty, Prabhu and Manju Warrier. Production designer Sabu Cyril, cinematographer Tirru, editor MS Ayyappan Nair and a Los Angeles-based VFX studio are part of the technical crew.

Marakkar is said to be one of the most expensive movies ever made in Malayalam cinema. It is being produced jointly by Mohanlal’s Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment.

It has been a while since Dulquer Salmaan’s Tamil film ‘Vaan’ got announced. The movie is currently in the pre-production stage and is expected to go on floors soon. Debutant Ra Karthik is directing the movie, which is touted to be a romantic travelogue. Selva Kumar J is producing the movie under the banner of Kenanya Films.

As per trustworthy reports, ‘Vaan’ has three female leads and the makers had already signed Kalyani Priyadarshan and Kriti Kharbanda. Latest addition to the cast is Priya Bhavani Shankar, noted for her performance in movies like ‘Meyaadha Maan’ and ‘Kadaikutty Singam’. ‘Vaan’ is not just another love story. It has love, travel, emotions and every aspect of a light-hearted film. The movie has different segments and Dulquer is reportedly playing multiple characters in it.

Cinematographer George C Williams, multiple national award winning editor Sreekar Prasad and debutant composer Dheena Dhayalan form the movie’s core technical crew. The team will be travelling all across the country for shoot as the storyline travels from Chennai to Kolkata.

As reported by us earlier, the blockbuster Vijay Sethupathi-Trisha starrer ’96’ is getting remade in Kannada and Tamil. The Kannada version titled ’99’ has Ganesh and Malayali actress Bhavana in the lead roles. First look poster of the movie was released today on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. The movie is directed by Preetham Gubbi and produced by Ramu Films. ’99’ also happens to be the 100th project for the film’s music director Arjun Janya.
