Four more days of shoot left in Lakshwadeep for Lucifer

Lucifer is currently in the final stages of shoot. After shooting in several locations across Kerala, Bangalore, Mumbai and Russia, the team will have a brief four-day long shoot in Lakshadweep. The final leg was supposed to be finished by the end of this month but got postponed due to some unknown reasons. Simultaneously, post-production works for the movie are progressing. The movie has been scheduled for a summer release, by the end of March.

Starring Mohanlal in the lead, Lucifer is a political thriller scripted by Murali Gopy. The movie has Vivek Oberoi, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas and Manju Warrier in other major roles. There is also an elaborate supporting cast comprising of ‘Queen’ fame Saniya Iyappan, Kalabhavan Shajon, Sai Kumar, Nandu, John Vijay, director Fazil, Sunil Sughatha, Thara Kalyan, Praveena Thomas and Maala Parvathy.

Lucifer is produced by Mohanlal’s home banner Aashirvad Cinemas. In the technical crew, Sujith Vaassudev wields the camera and Deepak Dev handles the music department.

Here’s a new poster of Nivin Pauly’s Mikhael

The highly anticipated Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Mikhael’ is gearing up to hit screens. The makers had already started the promotions by releasing the character intro posters. A new poster featuring an intense looking Nivin Pauly has been shared online just a while back. The actor reportedly plays the role of a doctor in this movie touted to be a family oriented thriller.

‘Mikhael’ is written and directed by Haneef Adeni of ‘The Great Father’ fame. Like Haneef’s earlier works, ‘Mikhael’ also promises to be a stylish mass entertainer. Unni Mukundan plays the antagonist in the movie. The actor sports an extremely stylish look for his character named Marco Jr.

Sudev Nair, Manjima Mohan, JD Chakravarthy, Siddique, Renji Panicker, Ashokan, Shanthi Krishna, Kalabhavan Shajon and KPAC Lalitha are also part of movie’s supporting cast. Anto Joseph is producing the movie under his banner Anto Joseph Film Company. Official announcement regarding the release date is expected to be made shortly.

As informed earlier by the makers, the official trailer of Ajith’s Viswasam has been shared online today. This two minute long trailer is packed with mass moments to please the star’s fans. We can make out that it’s a rural mass entertainer with a typical commercial packaging. Ajith sports two different looks in the movie. Nayanthara plays the female lead.

Viswasam marks Ajith’s fourth film with director Siva after Veeram, Vedhalam and Vivegam. While Veeram and Vedhalam were commercially successful, Vivegam was unimpressive and bombed at the box office. With Viswasam, the actor-director duo will be hoping to get back to winning ways.

Viswasam cast also includes Yogi Babu, Vivek, Jagapathi Babu, Ravia Wana, Anikha, Thambi Ramaiah, Bose Venkat, Robo Shankar and Kovai Sarala. The technical crew comprises of cinematographer Vetri, music director D Imman, stunt choreographer Dilip Subbarayan and editor Ruben.

Sathya Jyothi Films is funding the movie. The movie is scheduled for Pongal release in January but the exact date has not yet been officially announced.

Prithviraj Productions to release Petta in Kerala!!

Earlier in the day, Prithviraj had a live interaction with followers on his official Facebook handle to inform that he will be making a big announcement by mid day. While many speculated it to be an announcement regarding his next directorial, it turns out to be that the actor’s production house has bagged the distribution rights of ‘Petta’ in Kerala. Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames have joined hands to distribute the movie in over 200 screens in the state.

Prithviraj’s Facebook post reads,

Rajinikanth’s Petta is a hugely hyped film. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the movie is touted to be an action packed entertainer with a huge star cast. Vijay Sethupathi plays the antagonist and Bollywood star Nawazuddin Siddiqui, in his South Indian debut, also plays a negative role. Trisha and Simran is paired with Rajinikanth in the film. Others in the cast include Bobby Simha, Malavika Mohnanan, Megha Akash, Sasikumar, Mahendran and Manikandan Achari.

‘Petta’ is gearing up for a grand Pongal release on January 10. It is will be the first movie to be distributed by Prithviraj’s banner. Meanwhile, their maiden production venture, 9 aka Nine, is gearing up for release on February 7.

Arjun joins the sets of Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham

‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ shoot is currently underway at Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad. Bulk of the shoot will be happening within the film city. The makers have erected huge sets there, which includes two massive ships. The movie which has Mohanlal playing the lead role of a 16th century naval chieftain has a star studded cast. Last day, veteran Tamil actor Arjun Sarja joined the team. Popularly known as ‘action king’, the actor plays a very crucial role in the movie.

Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief of Zamorin of Calicut in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army. This epic movie directed by Priyadarshan is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. While Mohanlal plays the fourth Marakkar, his son Pranav is essaying the younger part of his character.

Though the makers are yet to make an official announcement, trustworthy reports suggest that the cast comprises of Suniel Shetty, Mukesh, Madhu, Keerthy Suresh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Manju Warrier and Pooja Kumar. Few foreign actors will also be seen in the movie. Pranav and Kalyani have already shot together for a few portions. They have another schedule left in January.

If reports are to be believed, around 100 crores are being invested on the movie. Mohanlal’s Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are jointly producing the movie. Production designer Sabu Cyril, cinematographer Tirru and editor MS Ayyappan Nair are part of the technical crew.

Last day, a new poster of Pranav Mohanlal starrer ‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ was released in social medias. The makers introduced the female lead with the poster. Debutante Zaya David is playing the part. Director Gopy shared the poster on his social media handle and has written,

As reported by us earlier, the actor plays an adventure junkie in the film. The team had shot his surfing portions in Bali. Besides that he has done some other risky stunts in the movie.

‘Irupathiyonnam Noottandu’ is touted to be an action-packed thriller. The movie’s core technical crew includes cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanujam, composer Gopi Sunder Sunder, action choreographer Peter Hein, editor Vivek Harshan, sound designer Renganaath Ravee and art director Joseph Nellickal.

Prithviraj, who is on a year end holiday with family, came live on his official Facebook handle a while back to inform that he will be making a big announcement by mid day today. Raising the curiosity of his followers, he hinted that it is a kind of announcement that nobody would be expecting. Speculations regarding the same have already started in cyber space. While a section believe that it will be a big announcement on his next directorial, some others expect it to be a word on his much awaited film, ‘Lucifer’.

In the live interaction video today, Prithviraj informed that ‘Lucifer’ shoot is almost complete with just four more days left. Post-production works and dubbing are currently progressing. The movie is gearing up for a grand release by the end of March. Meanwhile, Prithviraj’s long delayed 9 aka Nine is getting ready to hit screens on February 7.

After the release of ‘Lucifer’, the actor is expected to start shooting for Lal Jr’s ‘Driving License’ by March. He also has ‘Kaaliyan’, ‘Aadujeevitham’ and Kalabhavan Shajon’s directorial debut ‘Brother’s Day’ coming up.

Thuramukham: Rajeev Ravi’s next with Nivin Pauly is a period flick

We were among the first to report about Nivin Pauly and Rajeev Ravi teaming up for a movie titled ‘Thuramukham’. As the title suggests, the movie is centred around a harbour and the coastal people. We hear that it is a story set in the Cochin harbour in the early 1950s. It is said to be a big scale film that demands high production values.

Rajeev Ravi, the National award winning cinematographer-turned-filmmaker has previously helmed ‘Annayum Rasoolum’, ‘Njan Steve Lopez’ and ‘Kammattipadam’. With all his three films, the socially responsible director has discussed in depth the lives of underprivileged community and their problems. ‘Thuramukham’ is also expected to be a movie on similar lines. The movie is expected to go on floors by the first quarter of next year after Nivin and Rajeev wrap up their prior commitments.

Nivin Pauly is currently awaiting the release of ‘Mikhael’, an action thriller directed by Haneef Adeni. He has also completed a couple of schedules for Dhyan Sreenivasan’s directorial debut, ‘Love Action Drama’. The actor has also committed for couple of other biggies with Rosshan Andrrews (Pirates of Diego Garcia) and Jomon T John (Kairali).

The makers of Chiyaan Vikram’s ‘Kadaram Kondan’ have released the second look poster today in social medias. Vikram is seen wearing a Malaysian police unfiorm, which might suggest that he plays a cop in the film. Earlier in the first look, the actor was almost unrecognizable with a beefed up tattooed physique. Along with the new poster, the makers have also announced that the teaser will be released on January 15.

‘Kadaram Kondan’ is being directed by Rajesh M Selva of ‘Thoongavanam’ fame. Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan is producing the movie under his banner Raj Kamal International. Tridents Arts is also associated with the production. Kamal Haasan’s younger daughter Akshara Haasan is also playing a very crucial role in the movie.

‘Kadaram Kondan’ is touted to be an action thriller. The movie is being shot extensively in Malaysia. There are rumours about the movie being the remake of Hollywood thriller ‘Don’t Breathe’, but the makers are yet to confirm it. In the technical front, the movie has Srinivasa R Gutha wielding the camera, Ghibran as the music director and Praveen KL handling the edits.
