Tovino Thomas opens up about his movie with Mammootty!

Tovino Thomas is currently on a dream run with some memorable hits under his belt. The last couple of years has been incredible for him and has successfully cemented his place among the industry’s top league actors. His latest release ‘Theevandi’ has opened to stellar response at the box office and is expected to continue its good run in the coming weeks also. He also has around five other projects in his kitty, all in various stages of production.

In a recent interview, Tovino was asked about the status of his earlier announced film with Basil Joseph. The movie scripted by Unni R has Tovino playing the lead along with megastar Mammootty. E4 Entertainment was supposed to fund this project. The movie’s official announcement was made in August last year, but no further updates have been given ever since then.

In the interview when asked about the project, Tovino said that it has a very interesting script and writer Unni R is yet to complete it. Once the script works are over, they be will making further announcements. Just like the audience, Tovino is also hoping that the project would materialize.

Tovino has previously worked with Basil in the hit film ‘Godha’ and Unni R has previously collaborated with Mammootty in ‘Big B’ and ‘Munnariyippu’. If they all come together, it will be nothing short of a treat; for both the fans and cinephiles.

Gokul Suresh’s next as a lead actor has been titled as Ulta. Noted scriptwriter Suresh Poduval is making a comeback of sorts by directing this movie. This rural based fun entertainer has Anusree and Prayaga Martin as the female leads. Title poster of the movie with details about the cast and crew has been released officially.

Suresh Poduval has scripted hit films like Deepasthambham Mahascharyam, Nadan Pennum Natupramaniyum, Meghasandesham etc. His comeback film Ulta is also scripted by him. The movie has a huge supporting cast comprising of actors like Ramesh Pisharody, Renji Panicker, Shanthi Krishna, KPAC Lalitha, Sethulakshmi, Thesni Khan, Rachana Narayanankutty, Arya, Manju, Kottayam Pradeep, Jaffer Idukki and Sinoj Varghese.

Cinematographer Prakash Velayudhan, editor Shameer Muhammed, art director Indulal Kaveed and costume designer Dhanya Balakrishnan form the technical crew. Music department will be handled by Gopi Sunder and debutant Sudarsan. Dr Subesh Cipy is producing the movie under his banner Cipy Creative Works Pvt Ltd. Shoot is set to kick-start from the first week of October in Kannur.

Biju Menon’s latest release ‘Padayottam’ has opened to great response from the audience. Critics have given the movie a clean chit of a complete fun entertainer and the word of mouth has largely been positive. The movie is expected to continue its good run in the coming weeks as well. Padayottam marks a solid comeback for Biju Menon after a series of duds.

Up next, Biju Menon will start shooting for his new film with G Prajith of ‘Oru Vadakkan Selfie’ fame. National Award winner Sajeev Pazhoor, who penned the widely acclaimed ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ (TD), is scripting this movie. Anu Sithara has been signed as the female lead. The actress was last seen with Biju Menon in Padayottam, in which she played a cameo role.

This yet-to-be titled movie is all set to go on floors from September 20 in Vadakara. Along with Biju Menon and Anu Sithara, Alecier Ley and Aju Varghese will also be seen in prominent roles. Rema Devi of Green TV Entertainers is producing the movie jointly with Sandeep Senan and Aneesh M Thomas of Urvasi Pictures.

E4 Entertainment acquires the Malayalam remake rights of Arjun Reddy

It has been over a year since Arjun Reddy, the Telugu blockbuster starring Vijay Deverakonda, got released. But the movie still continues to be in the news. The movie is getting remade in Hindi and Telugu with Shahid Kapoor and Dhurv Vikram playing the leads respectively. Recently, the Malayalam remake rights of the movie have also been sold. E4 Entertainment have acquired the remake and dubbing rights.

It is not yet known if there is an immediate plan to remake the movie in Malayalam. Arjun Reddy is already a hugely popular film among Malayali cinephiles, so many are of the opinion that a remake can never up to the original.
Interestingly, E4 Entertainment is also remaking the movie in Tamil. The movie which marks the acting debut of Vikram’s son Dhruv is being directed by award-winning filmmaker Bala.

Arjun Reddy, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, was a sensational hit all across the South. The movie is about a medical surgeon who falls madly in love with his college junior. He becomes alcoholic post break-up and the rest of the story is about how he redeems himself. Vijay Deverakonda’s stellar performance as the medical surgeon with anger management issues was widely talked about. It will be a big challenge for any actor to outperform him.

Before starting works for his directorial debut ‘Lucifer’, Prithviraj had finished shooting for ‘Nine’, an ambitious sci-fi film, which also marks his maiden production venture. Jenuse Mohamed of ‘100 Days of Love’ fame is directing this movie. Prithviraj has announced that the movie is all set to hit screens on November 16. Along with sharing a new poster in his Facebook page, he has also written,

This winter..a father will fight the world and beyond for his son!
#9 Releasing on 16th November 2018!

This indicates that the movie has a father-son bonding. The newly released poster also features a young boy along with Prithviraj, Wamiqa Gabbi, Mamta Mohandas and Prakash Raj. While Mamta’s character is named Annie, Wamiqa is named Eva. Prithviraj is said to be playing the role of a scientist in 9, the story of which reportedly happens over nine days. Not much is known about the movie as the makers have kept all other details under wraps.

The movie, which is supposedly a big budget one, has a solid technical crew. Abhinandan Ramanujam, well known for his works in movies like ‘Amen’ and ‘Mosayile Kuthirameenukal’ has cranked the camera and edits are handled by Shameer Muhammed. Shaan Rahman is composing the songs while ‘Da Thadiya’ fame Sekhar Menon composes the original music score.

Prithviraj’s newly launched production house Prithviraj Productions is producing this movie jointly with Sony Pictures International Productions.

Tovino to play a police officer in his next titled ‘Kalki’; Here’s the first look

Tovino Thomas, who is on a dream run with a string films under his belt, has announced his next. The movie titled as ‘Kalki’ will have him playing a police officer. The title poster, that has been released today, indicates an action packed entertainer. Praveen Prabharam, who was assistant in films like Second Show and Theevandi, is making his directorial debut with this movie. Praveen has also scripted the movie jointly with Sujin Sujathan.

The technical crew includes Gautham Sankar, who cranked the camera in ‘Theevandi’, and editor Renjith Kuzhur. Manoj Poomkunnam is the production controller. Suvin K Krishna and Prasobh Krishna are producing the movie under the banner of Little Big Films. More details regarding the other cast members and when the movie goes on floors are expected to be announced shortly.

Kalki will be Tovino’s third film as a police man after Ezra and Tharangam. The actor has had a great couple of years with some memorable hits like ‘Mayaanadhi’ and ‘Maradona’. His latest release, ‘Theevandi’ is also doing great bussiness in the box office. His performance as the chain-smoker Bineesh Damodaran has earned him appreciation from the critics and commoners alike.

Currently, Tovino is shooting for the Prithviraj directorial ‘Lucifer’, starring Mohanlal in the lead. He also has ‘Luca’ with debutant Arun Bose, Salim Ahamed’s ‘And the Oscar goes to’ and an untitled travel film with director Jeo Baby. His next to hit screens will be Madhupal’s ‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’.

The title Mammootty’s new film with director Vinod Vijayan has been announced. The movie titled as ‘Ameer’ is scripted by Haneef Adeni. This is his third time collaboration with Mammootty after the success of ‘The Great Father’ (TGF) and ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal’. While Haneef directed ‘TGF’, he was the script writer of ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal’.

‘Ameer’ is reportedly a big scale project planned to be made on a budget of Rs 25 crores. The movie will be shot completely in Dubai. Mammootty plays the role of an underworld don in this movie. The tagline ‘confessions of a don’ confirms the same.

Gopi Sunder is handling the music department and our sources within the industry inform that the score in this movie will be among his best works till date. The movie will be produced by Sreelekshmi R and Shankar Raj R. Bhupen Tacho and Jeethu Goghi are the co-producers.
Details about the other cast and crew members are expected to be officially announced shortly.

Haneef Adeni’s previous two outings with Mammootty were hugely successful. So expectations will be massive for ‘Ameer’. This is Vinod Vijayan’s first film with Mammootty. He has previously helmed films like ‘Red Salute’ and ‘D Company’.

We had recently reported about Mammootty teaming up with Haneef Adeni for the third time after the success of ‘The Great Father’ (TGF) and ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal’. While Haneef directed ‘TGF’, he was the script writer of ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal’. He is once again scripting for a Mammootty film, which will be directed by Vinod Vijayan, who has previously helmed films like ‘Red Salute’ and ‘D Company’.

Buzz is that this upcoming movie will have Mammootty playing the role of a Dubai based underworld don. There is still no official confirmation about it but it will be hugely exciting if it turns out to be true. The makers have informed that it is a big budget film and will be shot entirely in Dubai. Title launch of the movie has been planned to be held today (September 15). The title will be unveiled on Mammootty’s official Facebook page at 6 PM.

Meanwhile, Mammootty is busy shooting for Madura Raja with director Vysakh. He also has a couple of schedules left for the YSR biopic ‘Yatra’ and the period film ‘Maamankam’. The actor’s new film, ‘Unda’, is set to start rolling from the third week of October. Khalid Rahman of ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ fame is the director.

Biju Menon starrer Padayottam hit screens last day and has opened to good response from the audience. While critics have rated the movie as a harmless fun entertainer, commoners also seem to like the movie as the word of mouth in social medias have largely been positive. The movie is directed by debutant Rafeek Ibrahim and produced by Sophia Paul of Weekend Blockbusters.

Director Midhun Manuel Thomas of ‘Aadu’ fame has posted a note in his Facebook post after watching the movie. According to him, Padayottam is a pretty decent entertainer with a lot of fresh elements in it. He also congratulated the team for the success.

Newcomers Arun AR and Ajai Rahul have scripted the movie as a gangster-comedy. Biju Menon, in a rugged new avatar, plays the role of Chenkal Raju, a pucca-gangster based in Trivandrum. Dileesh Pothan, Saiju Kurup, Anu Sithara, Lijo Jose Pellissery, Basil Joseph, Sudhi Koppa and Hareesh Kanaran play the other major roles.

After the good start at the Kerala box office, Padayottam is expected to continue its run by pulling more audience to theatres.
