Ayal Njanalla is certainly a much awaited film of this year and it has graced the silver screens of Mollywood today. The film had raised a good level of expectations with the trailer release and also the songs of the film also made some impact on the audience before the release. There are more reasons that made the mollywood film lovers to wait for the film and that are the director and actor. It is popular Mollywood actor Vineeth Kumar’s debut film as a director and he had written the screenplay of the film as well. The story of the film was written by the most popular writer/director in Mollywood Mr. Ranjith. And the young star Fahad Fazil is also looking forward to make a grand comeback after some debacles at box office had pulled him down recently.
The film which is touted as a romantic comedy is set mainly in the background of the state Gujarat and Bangalore. Prakashan is a 10th failed youngster who is a small time tyre mechanic at Gujarat. His uncle’s death puts him in a danger of losing his property there at Gujarat. So to save it he decides to sell his family property at Kerala and for that purpose he comes to Bangalore to meet one of his friends. Then it follows up with some interesting incidents which forms the crux of the plot.
When it comes to the direction and script writing Vineeth Kumar does a decent job considering it as his debut film even though at times it felt that he is losing his grip in the process of narration. He had certainly used his experience as an actor to control and ooze the best out of his actors and specially from Fahad Fazil who does a brilliant job with easy and effortless acting for which he is known for. But its the story that which limited the scope to make it big. There was nothing much in the story to play with as a script writer and he had to do with what he got. It has to say that the real strength of the film and which holds it together and made it enjoyable was the dialogues written by Sajas.S and Pradeep Kumar. It was really an impressive and appreciable work. The comic one liners delivered by by Fahad and Sreekumar were too good to say the least.
Artists like Mridula Murali, Divya Pillai made their characters look believable as well. The character played by Akshat Singh, Nobi, Tini Tom, Renji Panicker etc were also very impressive. Actor Sreekumar was a real Show stealer in this flick. Manu Rameshan’s music did not disappointed and Shamdat’s DOP was appreciable as he really captured the north Indian background with apt color tone and realistic frames in the first half and later the atmosphere of Bangalore too.
Overall Ayal Njanalla is a watchable flick when it’s compared to Fahad’s last release and it is not a let down, of course. The movie has enjoyable elements and more than the strength of the story the flick rides smoothly on the comic flavour which the screenplay and dialogues. A little more effort would have made the movie much better than it is now but it will do its job neatly which is to entertain you.
