We don’t think any film lover from South India ever waited this much for the release of a movie as they waited for SS Rajamouli directed magnum opus Baahubali. Prabhas and Rana Daggubati plays the lead characters and along with them a huge star cast including Tamanna, Sathya Raj, Anushka Shetty, Nasar and many other actors doing key roles in the epic flick which is India’s biggest film ever with a budget crossed 250 crores of rupees. Everyone behind the film is masters as the music is done by Keeravani, cinematography by Senthil Kumar, VFX by Sreenivas Mohan and Sabu Cyril has done the art direction of the film. If we have to say about film in one word after watching it I have to be the word ‘Classic’.
The film tells the story of Shiva played by Prabhas, a prince who is taken away from his kingdom at his very early days of childhood and he is been protected and grown up under a different tribe of people. Prince Shiva does not know about his real lineage.Shiva grows up as a strong man with astonishing rock climbing skills and the visual of Shiva’s rock climbing was shot with absolute precision and kudos to Peter Hein for that. The second half is more engaging than the first half of the film if we compare both. Pre-Interval session of the film revolves around Shiva’s life with tribes and his attempts to woo avantika played by Tamanna and a love track at work there. There is also parts which shows the activities of King Bhallala Deva played by Rana Daggubati.
The kingdom named Mahishmati and also the scenes around the waterfall was looking amazingly special and the VFX team’s work is just superb as they really become successful in making the audience to delve deep in to the visual. The cinematography by Senthil Kumar was very special as well. The second half shows as the flash back which shows us the life of Amarendra Baahubali , the father of Baahubali. Prabhas is doing that role as well and the story tells us what really happened in Mahishmati and also between Amarendra Baahubali, Bhallala Deva etc.
The war scenes in the second half was breathtaking and it was well shot and can be said that for the first time ever we can feel that in technical aspects our Indian film is stood up to the Hollywood war films. And the flick has much twist and turns in the plot which will make everyone engaged and also the climax portion is just awesome and gives a glimpse of what is going to come in the second part of the film which will come next year and to be honest it will make you wish to go to 2016 as soon as possible to watch the last part of the flick.
The directorial skills and imagination of Rajamouli was just amazing and the highlight of the film was its watertight screenplay. When it comes to performance everybody done their part well but Prabhas and Rana Daggubati steals the show with magnificent performance as Baahubali and Bhallala Deva. Anushka Shetty also done very well in the flick and Tammana was looking gorgeous as Avantika.
Cuts by Kotagiri Venkateshwara Rao and action choreography by Peter Hein was just brilliant and masterpiece work. But above all Rajamouli stands tall with his superb vision and he proved that he is the best in India right now when we speaks about epic films or fantasy flicks. On its negative side there is not much and if we have to say one there seems some continuity problems and may that is because it took so long to complete the filming. The VFX team manages to take away the attention from all those things and just made the audience eyes gazing the amazing visual treat on the screen.
Please don’t miss this epic at any cost and if you miss it, then it will be a great loss. This flick will make you spellbound with its visuals in the first half and spectacle in the second half along with the incredible music, sentiments and performance.
