Jabariya Jodi Review: Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra shine in this rom-com
‘Jabariya Jodi’ starring Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra has hit screens on Friday (August 9). From the promos, the movie directed by Prashanth Singh promised to be a colorful mass entertainer. Let’s see what it has eventually turned out to be.
‘Jabariya Jodi’ is a quirky romantic comedy based on the unique concept of Pakadwah Shaadi or groom kidnapping, which is prevalant in the Indian heartland.’Jabariya Jodi’ has Sidharth Malhotra playing a rough Bihari thug named Abhay, who is the son of a top politician. He is hired by the families of young women for kidnapping their potential grooms. Parineeti as Babli Yadav is paired opposite him. Abhay and Babli are childhood sweethearts separated after the girl moves out. How circumstances bring the two together years later is the crux of the plot.
Parineeti Chopra and Siddharth Malhotra had previously shared screen space in ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’. The two bring the same sparkling chemistry this time as well. Though Sidharth with his good looks and innate sophisticated nature was found wanting as a local Bihari in some places, he does make it up with some fiery dialogues and liveliness.
The cast cast also includes Javed Jaffery, Aparshakti Khuranna, Sanjay Mishra, Chandan Roy Saniyal, Gopal Dutt and Neeraj Sood. They have all played their parts well, doing justice to their casting
‘Jabariya Jodi’ is co-produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Shailesh R Singh under the banners of Balaji Motion Pictures, Karma Media & Entertainment and ALT Entertainment. It is worth a watch in theatres if you are on the look for some occasional laugh out loud moments.
