‘Cousins’, directed by Hit-maker Vysakh, which got released on December 19th keeping the Kerala box office live with its great opening. The film reportedly grossed Rupees 2.25 cr in its 3 days run and it is a very good opening for a film which do not have any superstar in the lead. The film had the young brigade of Kunchacko Boban and Indrajith Sukumaran playing the male leads and also has Suraj Venjarammood and Joju Mala as central figures.The film also includes young and dashing heroines like vedika, nisha agarwal and Miya in its star cast.
Director Vysakh and screen writer Sethu embellished the film with all the festival elements like dance, fight, comedy and suspense. They also made the film look like a real celebration with its rich and colourful atmosphere. Even though the film had opened with mixed opinion, it seems to have picked up itself from that situation and now on the way to a Good success.
Vysakh had given his best to make it really look like a rich fun filled family entertainer and families seems to respond to it in a good way. The film is running with packed houses and showing signs of becoming the Christmas winner of 2014. In most of the stations it got released, families formed the main crowd from the second day onwards and as the makers intended the film’s colour, richness and fun attracting the common audience, specially women and children in this Christmas vacation. Lack of competition also helping the film a lot. We don’t have any Mohanlal, mammootty and Dileep films on this Christmas season their films are still on the production stages and only have a January 2015 release.
As per reports there is not much films releasing in mollywood on Christmas day except Sreenivasan Starrer ‘Nagara vaaridhi naduvil njan’, which is a social-family entertainer. Earlier announced release date of Nivin Pauly Starrer film ‘Mili’ reportedly postponed from December 25th to January 2nd. Eventhough we don’t get any official confirmation, but news is coming just like that. That will also help ‘Cousins’ to move along nicely without much resistance and everyone associated with the film hoping that it will end as a profitable venture in the course of time. ‘Cousins’ is a festival film which everyone can enjoy and celebrate in this vacation season.
